Per Joel Freeman he was told he'd have the chance to start, not that he would start. As will everybody else on the roster.
    Unless Nates back?

Sorry but I want to contend. I'm tired of all these fringe 2nd round teams.

If he is any good it does. If he helps take pressure off of CJ and Dame it is. If he can help guard Klay it is. Get back to me next year when we know for sure.

Just curious. Turner has been in the league a few years. He's great with the ball in his hands but useless otherwise. Decent perimeter defender but not great. Decent mid range jumper but not a longe range shooter. We just paid him a huge amount of money that foregoes another signing..... Why did we do this signing?

Fair enough, but now we get to laugh at your team.

Ok. I'm fine with getting better, and Turner does make us better.

All year people were bitching about not having a third ball handler. Specifically at the forward position. Neil gets one, that's also a good defender, and passer. And everyone freaks out. He has a hole in his game, he can't shoot 3's well. If he was a good 3pt shooter, he would be getting the full max, and Boston would've given it to him. I'd rather pay turner this deal, than pay batum, the deal he got. As for parsons.... Time will tell. He might play really well, or he might be a cripple like the last 2 years. The chance of that happening again this year (being a cripple) is probably better than it was last year, or the year before.

At this point, I really like our team from 1-4 and we have some good backup centers. We still need a starting caliber defensive center though. I'm sure that's Neil's next target.

It might have been brought up earlier in the thread, but Aminu was considered a poor 3-point shooter who was a questionable fit when he came to Portland. He turned out all right.

If the money being reported is accurate, I think it's an overpay, but I am going to withhold judgment on the Turner signing until I see him actually play a couple of months as a Blazer.

Small time move with a huge price tag.

    Awesome.

The contract doesn't even seem that bad to me considering where the cap is headed.

The "Mozgov = Champs" mindset is very like the "Portland can get top FA's" mindset

If I had the patience I'd normalize all these moves and some historical ones to Percentage of That Year's Cap

Im game for making a bet that the lakers win a title before portland if you plan on sticking around these parts the next decade or so.
