I still don't really understand the appeal of Gasol. He would be a significant upgrade offensively, but I don't see why he'd sign here and he's a short-term bandaid. I would have much rather signed a big man that could potentially be a long term solution.
I think in some regard he can be that short term bandaid to hold things down to buy our bigs a bit more development time.
Which bigs? Davis is pretty much what he's going to be.... a hard working garbage man. Plums..... the guy is so limited offensively. I guess it's possible that he could develop a jumpshot, but I think his problem is confidence. It's extremely difficult to develop confidence.
He's a bandaid, but the best option left. I think he helps win in the short term and is a trade chip down the road to a team looking to make a championship run with a vet.
Yeah, but Vonleh is also a child. As he ages, I'm hoping he becomes more comfortable on the court with grown ups.
The game is still way too fast for Noah. I think it's just not going to work out for him in the way TRob didn't figure out how to be on the floor and contribute consistently. Some dudes have all the tools but don't have a feel for the NBA game. Ever.
Yeah, this guy definitely not coming, I really think we'll end up with Greg Monroe at this point, he has a lot of warts, but he would be better than Amir or some other scrapheap free agent.
By my estimates, after including the Evan Turner signing: - Waive Gerald Henderson - Waive Chris Kaman - Waive Brian Roberts That gives the Blazers $8.6M CAP space. - If we waive Leonard (and keep the rights to Crabbe and Harkless), that would give us about $16.2M of CAP space. 4 yrs / $69.5M total. - If we waive Harkless (and keep the rights to Crabbe and Leonard), that would give us about $15.8M of CAP space. 4 yrs / $67.6M total. If we're going to make an offer more that those, we'll need to waive at least 2 of Harkless, Leonard, and/or Crabbe.
4 year 70 million. So what big can we get for that that would make us better while losing Leonard? Man... I don't want to lose him, but, we need rim protecting. Should we offer ti to Barbonovich and try to force SA into making a move hoping to start the Durant domino, so everything else happens?
If we'd used cap space to sign Gasol in the first place, I might be ok with that. But renouncing half our decent young guys for the privilege of over paying that geriatric patient? Fuck that. I hope he turns us down.
Yeah, most guys who make it in the NBA show a lot more than Vonleah has in the last two years. I hope I'm wrong.
If we sign Gasol to a 2 years 30M contrat it will be a trade asset in 12 months as an expiring contract. Using our cap space to get assets is the way Olshey is manoeuvring isn't he?
Loved him in the draft over the myth, but he can't stay healthy. Monroe Kanter are still guy to take a look at. Also could be they don't think any big out there is worth the years and money, and they sign a versitile forward
