If what you're looking for is passing and low post offense, then it doesn't.

We lost our four games to Golden State by an average of 8.5 points. Once you get to the conference finals, anything can happen. Maybe (and I'm on the fence about whether I agree with it or not) Neil's thinking is that, even though we lost 4-1, the games were so close that a couple of focused improvements plus CJ and Dame improving plus having Leonard for the minutes you need him would actually put us over the top.

Not gonna lie these moves scream of PA getting antsy. So uncharacteristic of Neil to spend like this given what we've seen the last four years

He's always been ready to spend, it's just that everybody we're ready to spend on turns us down.

here's some quick Calcs from another board on how to get to 18-22 mil which is the rumored per yt amt; (I would be most happy with the leonard renounce options)

Considering we have 8.3 mil now we would have to do something similar to the following

    Renounce Harkless + Leonard (23)
Renounce Leonard + Trade Davis (22.66)
Renounce Leonard + Trade Plumlee (18.3)
Renounce Leonard + Trade Vonleh (18.7)
Renounce Leonard + Trade Vonleh & Plumlee (21)
Trade Davis, Vonleh & Plumlee (20)

No matter if we are serious about this offer or not, this is good since other teams may be waiting for us to renounce rights on our free agents.

If Pau really wanted to come to Portland he accepts that 2/40 deal in a heartbeat (assuming that is the real deal offered). The fact it's been a couple days and he hasn't accepted says a lot.

He's waiting for other moves to go down. Portland is probably option 3 or so

That is just a LOT of money for a 36 year old center (36 on Wednesday) on a 2-year deal. Aldrich for $7M a year seemed right up Olshey's bargain alley given he provides just what the Blazers need and would not need big minutes.

Will the last center available please turn out the lights when you get a deal?

This has to be a huge misconception. I can't see us actually offering Pau that much, 2y 30m I can see but making him the second highest paid Blazer at the age of 36 is nuts.

I'm cool with renouncing Leonard, but I would hate to lose the other 2 plus Aminu or Davis for a 36 year old player.

I think if we lose Leonard and Crabbe, can hang on to Harkless hold and be close enough to get an average of 2/40

What is the lowest the first year can be in comparison to the second year?

As in, first year is 16 million, second year is 24, etc?
