All that stuff is coming from Quick and for some reason I don't buy it.

I would accept this. Would have to be a separate deal, though. We give them a 2nd for RHJ, we don't match on Crabbe. Done deal.

Its just not his personality to be a malcontent. If anything, Crabbe will be determined to prove he is worthy of that kind of money by helping the Blazers win games so when the trade deadline comes around he is a major asset for us and someone teams would trade for to get for a playoff run.

After listening to guys like LaMarcus Aldridge, Nic Batum, Greg Oden over the years, I buy very little of what players have to say anymore. More times than not they are going to state the politically correct or the thing the fans and organization want to hear most. Whether they mean it or not.

If I had to bet, I would put the money on the idea of Crabbe not wanting the Blazers to match.

    Checkmate? Please.
So if a move doesn't make us better than them, pass, and give up assets which could help us get there for nothing? That's stupid.
It's a lot of money. It's not my money. Match, and figure it all out. If someone wants him for 18, someone else likely will at the deadline if need be

So help me. I know you can go over the cap to sign your own guys, but if they match Crabbe and are then already over tge cap, can they still resign Mo and the other guy?

We have to match. Can't keep losing assets for free.

Well there is a point when something stops being an asset and becomes a problem. Just saying...

Whatever Olshey does will be ok for me. Can't blame him if he matches, can't blame him if he doesn't. But, if he does match then goodbye Mo and Meyers. Out of the three I prefer Crabbe because his playing style is mostly needed for our system, but 75M is too much...

Why would matching mean goodbye Moe and Meyers?

If not now then at the trade deadline or next summer. You can't keep all these contracts and give CJ a max. And if Crabbe or some of these guys has a bad year how do you trade him if he is in 4 year contracts? They have proven nothing so far and all of them are just back ups for our 1st unit. And are we so sure that Mo won't find 60M/4 years? In this market everything is possible.

FWIW,Russilo, Jay Williams and Anthony Davis, on Mike&Mike are mocking the contract Brooklyn gave Crabbe.

Kanter is an elite offensive talent, Crabbe is not.

Crabbe at nearly 20 million per year is not an asset. Once teams wake up from their drunken stupor and their salary cap has been spent to the max, they will regret filling it up with these bench players, and no one will take him on. Not unless he really elevates his game, but that's a big if.

Yes, we can match all our RFAs, regardless of how far over the cap* we go.

*There are certain types of "under the apron only" transactions that can prevent a team from exceeding a total team salary that is about $4m over the tax line, but we're not in danger of that, and we haven't completed any of those types of transactions anyway.
