Even in his limited minutes last season he looked solid on defense. I'm surprised he didn't stick around for one more year.
One of the greatest, most dedicated and classiest players of my generation. To go from Duncan to Aldridge...I feel sorry for Spurs fans.
I'm not sure multi time NBA champions and HOFers "give up" because one team looks really good on paper. That's just me though
He'll be just fine. Tim was incredible for a long run but they will likely get as much out of Pau this coming season as they did out of Duncan this last year. He had just declined so much to the point of not being productive even though he still fit into the system so well. Pau/Aldridge/Leonard/Green/Parker with Pop as coach will probably still win 60 games.
Man, the Spurs sure benefitted from one of the luckiest injuries in the history of sports when David Robinson went down that year. Kudos to an amazing player and an amazing career.
It was right after Durant's decision that it suddenly came out, though. I think last year was a grind and he saw the team they need to get over pull further away, so he decided it was no longer worth grinding. No way to know for sure, just my guess.
