haven't done it since '88, when our David-Robinson-led team got the bronze.

Christina Laetner on that team too I think? At any rate, we didn't win and we have DRob leading?

    At least that's competitive.

She often shoots without great extension..easy target for an NBA defender..it's a different game..Donne Della might have better luck shooting at the NBA level..she's got great extension and she's also 6'9..Taurasi is a great great player...no knock on her but there are women who could probably compete in the NBA..what's her name..McNaughton? Moore, Griner, Swopes, and others...Leslie..it's a small list though. No knock on them, I've enjoyed the WNBA more this season than ever..teams are deeper and players are stronger, better defenders and faster.

Someday there will be a woman that transfers over from the WNBA to the NBA. It will happen.

Elena Delle Donne is 6'5" at most. Griner is 6'8" and towers over her.

It will never happen. They're not quick, strong, or good enough. A D2 game has as many dunks as the WNBA has had in its history. You're average D2 player would be better than every female basketball player in the world.

You, Mr. Jones, may well be the best player on the forum, but I doubt that even you are better than every female basketball player in the world. You may be stronger/more athletic than most, but there is more to the game than athleticism.

I agree with BGD; at some point, there will be a transcendent WNBA talent, and an NBA team is going to give her a summer-league invite.

    Will never happen. Why?

Because it will screw up the team locker room chemistry. no doubt.

Idk dude, wasn't there a story about one of those old Tennessee women's teams getting beat by a bunch of regular college men who just played pick up ball?

I meant D2 but I honestly think I am. We can disagree.

That's not what he's saying. He's saying that they'll transfer to the NBA not just play in a summer league.

A summer league invite would be for straight publicity. No female would ever make a roster though.

This. The men's game is just too fast, athletic, and skilled for even the best woman. It's not sexist, it's just fact.

Would be good from a developmental standpoint. Maybe incentive for people to stay in college an extra year? Plus it would get these 100 million dollar athletes out of the Olympics where I don't think they should be playing with so much at stake to a team. We all saw what happened with PG, Indiana's season the next year was basically lost going into it after losing the MVP candidate.

Yeah they might make a team for publicity purposes but they would not last long. There are only 450 players in the NBA. That WNBA player would have to be one of the top 500 players in the whole world. A world that is getting better and better in basketball.

I acknowledge that WNBA players are very good. I used to debate it all the time with a coworker who said he could grab 4 guys at the rec center and beat any WNBA team. And even though he played HS ball pretty well, I told him he was crazy.

But it still comes down to a numbers game. As good as women are getting, they would still have to compete against countries who currently are not big producers of NBA talent, but who love the game and are also getting better. (i.e China with over 700 million males) There is just too much competition for a league with only 450 members.

France just beat Serbia by 1 point. Tony Parker hit a game winning fade away after being on the bench for most of the fourth quarter.

De Colo threw an alley oop with like 7 seconds to go when they were on a fast break and should be trying to end the game . Serbia had a decent shot to win the game at the buzzer

Carmelo Anthony just needs 12pts to break the Olympic scoring record.
