That was a great fight. Very entertaining. I think McGregor should demand that Diaz come down closer to his regular weight for fight 3.
Why? They're so entertaining already at 170, what makes you think a third match would be any better at 155? The very fact that McGregor can go t0e-to-toe with a much bigger man and find the second wind necessary to win that 4th round is what made that fight so great. If Diaz actually had to cut weight (rather that McGregor adding), I don't think it would have been nearly as good or as even.
Because it gives Diaz a big advantage. I dont think it's fair for him to continue to get that advantage for the 3rd fight.
Dana says they are moving on from the third fight, makes sense though, their antics before the fights have been WWE promo shit. However Dana isn't a guy who keeps his word.
There have been plenty of rematches in MMA history, but I don't think there have been any back to back to backs. I think McGregor will drop down to 155 and fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight championship. But it seems Dana wants him to drop to 145 and defend his featherweight belt. McGregor talks like he isn't too interested in that, but Aldo is considered by many to be the best fighters ever at that weight class. So whipping him back to back would be a big career achievment for him.
It makes sense for McGregor to go to LW, the cut isn't as harsh for him and he will still have elite power at that weight.
It makes sense for McGregor to take the fight that would give him the biggest payday. What would more fans be interested in--Conor v Eddie, or McDiaz III?
Hold on, let me put it this way... I want Conor v Eddie (Conor winning) then McDiaz III for the LW belt.
WWE promo shit sells. That's how all the big fights begin. I don't see the UFC moving away from that!
