Having, or not; an Epi Kit can mean life or death in areas of the deep south, where mosquitoes look like they've been pumping iron, taking PED's, and require their own landing strip, ie one's arm, leg...

like Congress voting themselves in a raise, now that's flat out fkd up...!

This is one of many many Scripts I've seen more than triple, even quintupled increases for life saving meds, like several my old man takes. A senior who requires a bronchodilator (Advair), at a price of $150 a diskus, up from $50 just 3 yrs ago, up from $15 just 6 yrs ago.

My old man can't afford to pay that much for one of close to 20 meds he takes, not even close.

He was unaware, as no Dr's are going to tell their patients, (well most it seems don't even know themselves this) : Little tho' do many know, if one cannot afford their script, and its life threatening, the Pharmaceutical Mfg provides such meds for free, if one applies for the "Advocacy Program".... it worked great for my Wife when two of her anti-seizure meds alone, were $1,800 per month, during a time when ObumaCare took over, and no one would ensure her. 1st, She was taken off my own pension health care policy, put on another, taken off, then bounced around, for 2 fkng years. (yes, I know now why people blow up things).

Each broker, agent, worker, all passed the buck on her for 2 solid fkng years, damn near drove us crazy.......thank someone in big corporate Drug Mfg world, who knows those in need, can't always afford their med's, even over life or death, but yet- these crook Member's don't give a shit about one of their patients, obviously, it's all about how much of a bonus they can garner, not lives saved....

"money for nothing", "and your" ticks "for free"...

fk Obama, the Camel he rode in on (named: Michelle), and fk Obumacare...

    Here's one, Josh Hamilton.

    http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/texas-rangers-release-josh-hamilton-open-door-to-bring-him-back/

Not sure whether to post this on the game thread, or the Doc-K post. It is one thing that pisses me off tho'; as being excused and paid, a cheat that got away cuz he knew he was going to fail the test to begin with.

assistance was provided by Texas several times for this kid, and- its too often, once a 'nose candy tweaker', always a skunk in the clubhouse. No matter where he goes so does the problem.

I hope no one give's him any consideration at all. He's done nothing to deserve it. ntm- fkd over 2 teams, MLB, fans, kids explain that one too them...!

then again, the Doc K story is a tragedy in ways, of course all choices poorly made. The story of a great epic figure of greatness at its height, to the bottomless dark pits, "fishing for fallen light with patience"...

So we should just abandon the free market? Not a fan of inviting the govt to solve problems that don't really exist.

    1. Even at $300 vs $60, if I needed the life saving features the cost difference is something those folks have to budget for.
    2. Cost increases done over time, not an all at once event.
    3. If the market can't bare this price point, than competition will emerge.

...lol...if a person really tries hard enough they can justify anything.

    1. Easy for someone to claim it's not "a problem" when it does not affect them and they don't have to pay for it. This medication is a necessity for many people, not a luxury. If you had a condition that required this medication I'm sure you'd be less than pleased at what Mylan is doing.

    2. Realistic profits are one thing but because of patents and anticipated new generic arrivals, Mylan purposely and strategically gouged customers and gave their Execs huge raises.

    3. Again, because of patents competition could not emerge, at least not until recently, which is the main reason they inflated the price.

Matts Totally Accurate!!!! My wife and I have distinct meds we have to ingest/inject and they are high $$$....and we do not have Obama care (so the administrative part is eliminated) but the cost is ridiculous. I am retiring in 16 work days and my plan will be eliminated so the total cost is on her plan.

...^^^another problem is that Mylan asserts that insurance companies will pick up the tab on most of cost...which in turn forces the insurance companies to increase its premiums...and guess who pays the increased premiums? ...TAH DAH !

...and it seems sometimes that the ultimate goal of the health industry and pharmaceutical companies is to pick the pockets of people to the point that they won't have much to leave to their children.

Well argued comrade, but I'm still not buying your socialist agenda.

Pharma and Biotechs have not altruistic obligations to society. The choice to purchase a living saving drug is your choice, it's not a right for someone else to make it easy to access or reasonably priced. What did people do before there were epipens?

There are already reasonable pricing guidelines with the FDA. Whether or not boards and shareholders deem it appropriate to reward their executives are a separate discussion. I suggest you buy stock and use your voice that way.

Less govt is the only solution.

..."comrade"?..."socialist agenda"?...what's up with you and the the insults lately?...again, you're usually much better than this, Tote.

..."reasonable pricing"?...according to who?...the FDA?...and in comparison to which pharmaceuticals?. The FDA is part of the problem.

...and in case you've forgotten, Mylan has a patent on the little plastic injector which injects the "epinephrine" (insulin) which has been around for a 100 years and costs about $1 per dose. How much do you seriously think a damned plastic injector costs Mylan to have made?....their gouging tactics has even forced some hospitals, clinics, first responders, etc., into going back to simple syringes and vials of epinephrine.

...and sorry, but I don't need to be a stockholder in a company to have an opinion about their practices...besides, the stock market has already voiced its opinion in the last week or so concerning Mylan's tactics and they now have a serious PR problem.

Hero, with the entire cost on your Wife's plan, will this eliminate higher costs, or does her plan and your old plan differ in their Formulary pay outs??

Hero, not sure whether to say "Congratulations" or "I'm sorry" on your Retirement. LOL. All Kidding aside, Congrats Brother, you've made it this far, all the better for the wear. To me, when I retired, I expected a kicked back, leisure take it easy life. Get up when i wanted to, et al.

Best O' luck to you, your Wife and Kids my friend. Enjoy a new chapter in your lives. That's exactly what retirement is, add new pages for the ages, and chapters of/to our lives. The beat goes on with or without us
Guess that might mean, 'our life is our work'....

although I find retirement has with no doubt left me with a much busier life, making me question how I ever had time to get anything done when I worked. Yet, you will find you've time to do many things you never could have prior. Again, I wish you well- ! :smiley-marinesalute:tiphat:

I need to clarify, what up from 3 yrs ago means. With the increases I noted for my old man's meds. All of those increases were overnight, and not gradual or slight increases. By no means is a 300% increase (not once, but TWICE); OVER NIGHT gradual. How about flat out highway robbery???

oh btw- Advair is increasing in price 38$ more as of Jan 1st.

the entire point here on my end is: there is no averaging or budgeting into one's life, when they are a senior living on these fixed cola pensions, retirements; of which Obuma swore would "the un-affordable health care act", would not change a thing for those who were already drawing a plan on retirement. All I see is a healthcare out of control....

...^^^ Matts, I've long had the opinion that US citizens who have spent 40 years or so in the workforce while also having to cough up 30% or so of their income to a wasteful and inefficient government, should not have to worry about competent health care.

...consider me a very dissatisfied customer.
