Officer uses his military training to correctly ascertain that a man is not a threat. Other cops show up and kill the man who is holding an unloaded gun. Non-shooting officer is fired because he "put two other officers in danger".

As long as threat-elimination protocol is elevated over legitimate situation analysis and response, I don't see how things will ever get better.

I agree. As do I think the majority of people on here. A lot of us have said that the training needs to change.

"The city mentioned two other incidents in firing Mader, but it seems clear that his failure to kill Williams was the motivation for his termination."

What were the other two incidents, I wonder?

    1) he arrested a 70-year-old woman for shoplifting - when they strip-searched her at the station, they found no evidence that she'd been pistol-whipped
    2) he ate the last donut before the chief had one

Umm, they blew up a guy who they had cornered not too long ago.

I just saw a badass armored police truck on my way home, hadn't seen it before. I knew we had one, just never saw it.

I have no desire to catch any attention from the cops.

Just saw a clip from Phoenix of someone running over three cops standing by a cop car. Just ridiculous.
