Gustavs is not the rheinlander though? I didnt know they were the same. I had no idea. :)

Thanks for sniffing that out for me! Sucks they are closing the authentic old school location though.

You know that most of the time, all these stars and sports athletes just do this kinda shit for a cheap thrill. But hey I'll play. No one mentioned Waffle Window! There was one that was supposed to go in the Bethany area this past July. Don't know what the hold up is but they still have the sign. Oh and what about the restaurant TILT?

Rheinlander. And it's gone way downhill (as has the related Gustav's) since the next generation in the family took over a few years ago.

Fucking love that place, if not just for the nostaliga.

    The whole meal.

The sourdough bread with butter they give you.
    The relish plate
    the onion rings
    the mushroom sauce
    the steak
the ice cream after the meal

And there is a soup or salad in there too. Where else can you get a steak and prawn 5 course meal for $25-$30?

Next time your up, ill take you there. I live half a mile away.

You are correct in that it was never that good.

But I am correct in that it's gone way downhill. They had like Tex-mex sausages for a while on the way downhill. Wtf?

It may not have been that good overall, but it was the closest I've had to the Schnitzel I used to get at a little Balkan restaurant in Mainz-Kastel, Germany. Plus, they carry a couple of my favorite German weissbiers, which I've found in only a couple places in Oregon over the years...
