I've been a consultant dealing with real estate developers for 35 years. This architect made some very bad business decisions in dealing with Trump. First, before taking on a client like Trump, you'd want to check around with other architects who have worked for him. That probably would have indicated that you don't want the job unless you're accepting that you're going to be working with a shark. He should have demanded a retainer that would have been applied to the last invoice. How did the bill get up to $140K? He should have billed more regularly so that he couldn't get stiffed for such a large amount.

Trump is an ass and he no doubt takes advantage of the little guys who work for him. I wouldn't vote for him if he was the only guy on the ballot. That said, this architect was in way over his head and much of the fault is due to his own business practices.

No I'm into a country where everyone has a fair chance. You alluded yourself to the fact that capitalism has become a one-sided system, that is not all "peaches and cream" and that you are stuck in this notion that it's never going to change. That is what is wrong with this country. Most everyone has been brainwashed to believe and accept that idea. It's a bunch of bullshit.

Either way between Clinton and Trump it's status quo. At least with Clinton there is a chance things will get better, with Trump will come the apocalypse.

I'm not voting for either of them but how the fuck can anyone with a brain think Trump won the debate last night? I guess if you want a blabbering idiot as your president it makes sense..

I believe the time has come here on Rip City 2 to have a debate about whether we should be debating the debate over who won the debate.

Even so, this architect being naive and getting duped, doesn't excuse Donald Trump

They aren't paying an exorbitant amount. They are paying a percentage based on what they make. The more you make, the more you pay.

Do you own a large company? Are you a CEO? You must not be a worker bee just like the rest of us. Because if you are your notions make no sense

To me everyone with a brain DOES have a fair chance. You just have to be smart.

Fair chance doesn't mean raising taxes on a certain group of people. Trump wants to lower taxes on a lot of wage earners and businesses to drive business back into America. It's pretty obvious when you look at the details of his tax agenda. What incentives do corporations have to do business here when they can go elsewhere with their workforce and pay less? Hillary will keep that aspect going, while Trump wants to fix it. I really think you should read more into what he proposes.

She wants to raise taxes on those people. That was my point. They indeed will be paying far more than they should. The top half already pay a ton of money into this system. 97.2% to be exact.

I do well for myself and I'll let you know I pay a fuck ton of tax, just so snot nosed brats can have leaded water at their shitty schools.

No the answer isn't to give them further breaks, it's to make them follow the rules

I didn't say it did. I said early on in his candidacy that Trump no doubt has a long history of shady business dealings that his opponents would be able to exploit to their advantage. Hillary is doing that. Trump will try to blow it off as standard business practices and that the country will be well served by a president who can make "great" deals for the US. I think he's full of crap and won't vote for him. That doesn't mean that he won't be able to pull this off and win the election.

I do pretty well myself, and I don't have a problem paying taxes. Im willing to pay my fair share. Its my responsibility. That's doing my part to keep our country going. If I were a billionaire or even a millionaire I'd be fine paying more.

    They are following the rules.

The very rules career politicians like Hillary enacted.

What more do you want from them? Oh that's right more money because they succeed and <edited> , so its not fair! SMH.

edit: Sorry I apologize for a pot shot..

Yup. Unfortunately, Hillary isn't a hell of a lot better, IMO. Oh, she'll probably keep things going pretty much like they have the past 8 years. She's an insider's insider and knows DC as well as anyone. Unfortunately, she's also an unscrupulous, deceptive person whose first inclination is to hide and cover things up. Double yuck as far as I'm concerned.

You sound like my friend whose a mortgage broker, pulls in over 100K, complete metro and buys fancy ass clothes, super vain, etc.

He basically told us that he would vote for Bernie. And when posed w/the notion that he would end up paying more money into Bernie's cuck schemes, he said that he wouldn't mind giving up ALL his money for taxes so America would benefit. People say these things to try to make a point, but it's like Hillary's debate.. all made up plastic.

Such a complete farce. I do not believe either of you when you say these things.

Edit: Not to mention if you were a billionaire or millionaire, you'd be using the same tax laws to avoid paying enormous tax bills. Much like everyone else does; by showing losses on certain properties or businesses, among other things. JFizzle probably knows more than us all on it.

businesses that are global actually make money from overseas markets...Ford sells cars in China for example...American businesses getting profits overseas is status quo...news flash...they're not coming back make cars here and ship them to China..they'll just make them there..I don't know why folks don't understand that....factories here need to be competitive and if they workers weren't taxed to death on their incomes....they might even afford to buy an American made car here at home. Trump makes things overseas and always has. Trump stiffed contractors with families to feed in his own backyard....if you think he'll make anything great again, it'll be his own bank account only

He makes things overseas because with the current laws/taxes that career politicians have put into place, it's beneficial for him to do so. Its quite simple really. This is his whole entire point. There is no reason to do business here at this moment in time and he wants to change that.

    As an example:

He is sabre rattling....and I bought my land in America from working overseas for 20 years and saving money..then invested that money in Oregon..if you think there aren't work permitted computer engineers working in the Bay Area that take their profits and invest them in their native countries...you are uninformed...using nationalistic rants, being divisive and sowing doom, gloom and fear are all Trump has to vent about...and he does this with a complete double standard from his own history....don't buy the snake oil he's selling....it's sensationalized to appeal to zealots who want the good ole boys who controlled this country by force to take power back....Hitler did the exact same thing in the 1930s....The mullah of Iran did the same thing in more modern history....rile up the people about the great Satan and make them hate their neighbors
