Hmm. Kevin Calabro will be following this story closely, IMO. Perhaps the Mikes will rise again?

Interesting question (to me): if an expansion draft were held tomorrow, which 8 players would we protect, and who would likely be the first player chosen of those left unprotected?

    7 seem certain:
    Lillard
    CJ
    Turner
    Crabbe
    Harkless
    Aminu
    Plumlee

Who's #8? Davis? Leonard? Vonleh? Ezeli?

Could this be why we went and got Calabro? before he signed with a new team in Seattle? Didn't want the commentating competition?
    Just a thought.

So each team can only protect 8 players? A new team should have to sign what's left of the free agency sesspool and build they're team from the bottom up accordingly like everyone else.

    So we'd protect
    Dame
    CJ
    Crabbe
    Turner
    Plumlee
    Meyers
    Aminu
    And either Harkless or Vonleh

This is a good thing. Probably reduces travel as it would force realignment.

I wouldn't protect Crabbe because I doubt they would take him.

Yeah I was the thinking that eighth spot would be between him, hark, and Noah, and he's be shit out of luck.

Wouldn't they need to repeal the 19th before Seattle approves a team again?

We'd protect Vonleh and probably NOT protect Turner or Harkless. Both have expensive contracts for not being a first or second option.

There's enough talent to go around and support 2 more teams probably. One in Seattle, and prolly Vegas.

Move a current Western team east and get 16 in each conference.
