That's fine, and I doubt we'll ever know the reasons why. But my first inclination is to say, "hang em up." That's just my opinion. It's not like I'm tweeting at his wife and telling her to get her man in check. I'm not walking up to them in church and telling him he's a bad father. I'm sharing my opinion on a message board.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but it seems to me like a family matter best left to the Blakes to decide. We don't know anything about the particulars that went into the decision and what it may mean for his family. How much money is involved? How much travel? Were they intrigued about the chance to live abroad? What other job opportunities may be associated with it in the future (coaching)? It's easy to imagine from the outside that he's doing it because he's a selfish asshole who can't give up on his dying career, but that doesn't match what I know of his personal motivations in the past.

I didn't call him an asshole. I don't think he's an asshole. I just think that this decision strikes me as selfish. You might be right, and maybe the family has always wanted to live in Australia. I'm just giving my opinion. The family is from Portland. They always love coming back here. This seems to be their home base. I'm not sure how old the kids are, but I do know that kids tend to like stability. Moving around makes it extremely hard to have a normal life, or have friends.

If Blake truly wanted to be "selfish" than I can almost guarantee that he would have gotten a lot more money to go play Basketball in the Chinese League. They pay on average more than any other league for even fringe players.

Or maybe he wants to keep playing, but he wanted to take his family to a place that speaks primarily English?

Either way, my point is that it's rough on kids to constantly be moving around.

Here's the schedule for the Sydney Kings 2016-17 season:

    http://www.sydneykings.com/schedule/

A grand total of 28 games, with the regular season finished by Feb. 10th.

I wish my dad had taken me out of the Oregon rain to Australian summer from November to February.

Mrs. HCP is a lot closer and, I'm sure, considerably more accommodating.

No way. They're that young? I'm pretty sure he already had kids during his first stint here. How old are his kids?

I'd guess the oldest is probably 5 or 6.

What year is it? I swear they had kids back during the Roy years.

If the oldest is 5-6 then I guess I retract my statements.

I'll have to amend my post. I had only seen him with his two youngest sons. His third is probably 10 now. I found this in an article written by Mike Barrett when Steve re-signed with the Blazers in 2014:

"Steve is now the father of three boys, Nicolas, 8, Jamison, 5, and Zachary, 4. "

I mentioned before that it's summer in Australia when it's winter here....nothing selfish about being an Oregonian snowbird

You don't think it's rough on kids to leave their friends, be pulled out of school for a few months at a time, and then reinserted later?
