    How does that happen with the poison pill provision in C.J.'s contract?

    I can't figure out a single trade with SAC involving C.J. that works within the CBA. Hell, due to C.J.'s poison pill provision, I can't even come up with a 3-team trade involving PHI with their shitload of cap space. The PPP was intended to make it hard to trade players you extended before their extensions kick in and it works like it's supposed to.

    I think to make it work you have to have a lot of salaries going in both directions. Like 20M or more each way :)

    I wasn't suggesting that trade, just showing that you need $20M and $18M in contracts to make a trade with CJ work.

    And how does this get us Cousins? If you read my post, I was looking for a possible 3-team trade involving POR, SAC and PHI with McCollum and Cousins the main pieces.

    And, if he is "unhappy", he's going to be "unhappy" for at least two more months. He signed an extension and is BYC and can't be traded until January 15.

    I disagree with this. Lillard was a great pick, but other than that?
    I actually think Olshey's main talent is finding players on the scrap heap that perform above expectations for us. Robin Lopez, Plumlee, Ed Davis... Come to think of it, they all have a worrying tendency to get worse in their second year.

    Maybe picking a coach?

    Not my problem that you cannot read that the Pacers only lost to one of those Jordan Bulls or Piston teams once before Reggie was 28.

    And you can't seem to grasp that the talent level on the Pacers and the talent level of the Warriors aren't even in the same universe. You're talking about a team that just broke the win record that Michael Jordan and the Bulls set 20 years ago.

    Klay Thompson is the second fiddle on one of the best teams in the history of the game. Who did Reggie have? Who was his Draymond? Who was his Curry? Reggie was Curry, and Klay was.... who exactly? Mark Jackson? Derrick McKey? Rick Smits? Come on man.... Reggie carried that fucking team. By himself. They won or lost based on what he did. Klay has never had to completely carry the Warriors with zero help.

    The rules are the same. You need big salaries in/out for all teams so the PPP is a small enough % of inbound and outbound.

    The particular player I used, other than CJ, were to see how much $$$ in/out it takes.

    You can trivially add a 3rd team.

    You did say it was near impossible to find a deal with Philly's cap space.

    You also need a team with significant cap space to absorb the PPP player's incoming salary, which is MUCH higher than his outgoing salary.

    No, I said I couldn't find a way to get use Cousins for C.J., even if involving a 3rd team, like PHI with tons of cap space. I still can't. If you can, please post it.

    $20m/$18m are the amounts in and out required to be able to trade CJ due to the PPP of his contract extension.

    I used the trade machine to figure out the amounts.

    The players simply have salaries that work.

    I don't suggest Philly would go for this deal. But they have enough guys at ~$4M to get a $ figure that fits the CBA.

    I started with CJ for a $4M player. Not acceptable to the trade machine. It said Philly wasn't sending out more than $9.8M and to cut $15M inbound - even tho CJ is only ~$3m. Added Ilyasova to get over $9.8M. Added the right contract amount to both sides to get it to work.

    Now we know the scope of the inbound and outbound, it's easy to figure out which players work.

    I wasn't interested in proposing any particular trade.

    That said, getting Boogie is like getting LeBron. LOL, yeah right.

    But if we did trade CJ for a replacement scorer, we might improve. Our backcourt is small and porous on D. Getting Crabbe or ET at SG gets us bigger and better on D. Huge offensive downgrade though. Adding an Okafor gets us back the scoring. We'd have 4x 3pt shooters on the floor with him. Also some inside / outside game.

    Okafor needs to improve on D, no doubt. But you won't have two guards letting their guys past so easy.

    Okafor is gettable.
