I'll start by saying i never liked Brook Lopez, he's a weak rebounder and i don't trust his knees to preform under pressure. Having said that, i feel that we must get a scoring big man if we want to compete and keeping so many guys on insane contracts is not ideal either. I think that right now, Leonard or Plumlee +Turner would look appealing for them. I don't want Lopez to be our main guy or something, i just want a good 20 minutes from him every night: Start him, send him to the bench a bit before CJ goes to the bench, have him support that 2nd unit when Lillard is on the bench and perimeter defenders are all over Crabbe and CJ. We can talk shit all we want about LaPassive Snoozedridge, but he took A LOT of pressure off Dame and Wes. (and then in the summer we'll trade him and Crabbe for BOOGIE!)
I honestly don't see how we can trade Turner at this point. Just going to have to wait for him to really start producing and even then I think other teams would have the bargaining power if it comes down to Olshey trying to shed that contract. Big guys are usually easier to move, so dumping some combination of Davis, Plumlee, Leonard, and the Cleveland pick seems like a better bet for getting something of value, although probably not going to be an all-star level player like Lopez.
Yea, he played 72 and 73 games in the last 2 seasons. It's also a question of whether or not Stotts is disciplined enough to keep him under ~24 minutes a game.
That's why i said Plumlee+Turner. Plums only gets 3 mil a year during this year and the next (Qualifying offer), so he kinda balances out the spending on Turner. Maybe we can hand them Ezeli as well? The Nets have money and a dumb ownership, they offered Crabbe that STUPID contract ffs.
I like Lopez but liked him much better when he was beasting in the paint. He seems to have fallen in love with the '3' and although he hit a couple, was so much easier to defend when he was 24' from the basket. If he'd camped himself in the paint against the Blazers, that wouldn't have been a 20-point win with the way Portland gives up points in the paint.
I'm going with the answer..NEGATORY!!!!!! We need an injury prone big guy who can't rebound like we need Sasha Pavlovic!!
I think that's his new coach decision. I've heard Robin Lopez talking about his workout against his brother throughout the years and i don't think any of the Lopez brothers like to play away from the paint.
and is half a decade younger.....? maybe....I wouldn't be looking for an older Meyers if we want rim protection
So, would this be a correct paraphrase? "Brook Lopez is shit but we're so bad we'd improve if we acquired him"?
Just because Blazer fans have not seen him produce, doesn't mean teams in the east haven't. Again...he was a runner up for the 6th man award last year. As far as his contract....how much did the Nets offer Crabbe? The one issue I could see is that they already have another wing on their team from us, who can't shoot from deep. (RHJ) Not sure they would want two.
The problem is that Turner is getting paid like an above average starter, something he's never been, over the next four years. Which means that someone will have to value him at roughly that level for the contract to seem like a reasonable price for them. And if teams see his production slipping over a large enough sample size, coupled with Olshey's obvious desperation and change of heart, then our bargaining power just goes out the window. We could take on an albatross contract in return but that's about it options wise. We're just going to have to hope that Turner starts to produce like last year and go from there.
I don't understand the massive aversion to BroLo. Of course, I also don't understand the idea that the Nets would give him up for a guy they just traded away 16 months ago for a rookie alongside arguably the league's most overpaid player.
