In a ton of possessions. We picked up the pace. Stop looking at raw points numbers

Literally nothing has changed. They're still fouling like crazy, making stupid mistakes, allowing drives. And this is against the 23rd ranked offense without their best player.

I mean, all of this is overshadowed by the fact that the offense is carrying them because the Blazers are hitting a bunch of shots. If you score 73 points in a half most likely you're gonna be up.

But the defense is still ass.

Indiana is shoot .429 from the field. That is the defense that matters. Total points is higher because we're playing at such a fast tempo. Plus freethrows.

Are you even watching this game? They have 8 points of 2 four point plays.

Pacers went 17/40 which is 42% but 4/8 from three and hit 20/21 free throws. I don't need you to tell me whether that's good defense or not, because it's not.

Our effort on D just gave up 35 points in the quarter to Indiana without Paul George though...

100% disagree. Pacers still have a lot of offense without Paul George. It's not like you just subtract his scoring average from the total. Other people take those shots. We are holding them to .425 shooting. Give credit where credit is due. This is an Indiana team (without Paul George) that blew out the Clippers.

4 of 8 from threes on great contests. The fouling needs to stop, but one step at a time.

Are YOU? Blazers 14 fouls to 5 for Indiana, and I can't really even say the refs are favoring the Pacers. Blazers are making a ton of terrible, obvious fouls.

The effort is up but the results are still trash. How many possessions did the Pacers fail to score on in that second quarter? (Hint: read the pbp, not a whole lot)

When you have a deep team, you can afford to be more aggressive about fouling.

You basically admit, we held the Pacers to 13/32 from the field on two pointers. That is top level defense.

So we just aren't counting free throws as scoring possessions now. Alright.

By the way, Indiana's TS% for that half was 59%.

If you are watching this game and honestly believe giving them free throws on every possession is good defense.

    Speechless....

B-Roy- the fouling is a result of increased effort. They're putting it out there and they are dominating. That was our best half of the season and you're being a dick. Cut it out.

It's better than giving up 3 point shots.

I don't think anyone figured they'd be all NBA defense already, but it IS an improvement. Still needs work (the free throw discrepancy is maddening). They haven't had their normal 24 minute stretch of mental lapses on the defensive end.
