Chris Patton, University of Maryland. Took me 10 seconds to find it using google:

"According to a recent report in Sports Illustrated, other atheletes have been sidelined by Marfan's. Ten years ago, Chris Patton, a University of Maryland basketball player, died of a ruptured aorta during a pickup game. "

Since you have no clue as to what the hell you were thinking of, I am now convinced that your were subconsciously thinking of Hank Gathers.

I officially win the argument. P.S. Bob Whitsitt rules.

Well sure, now you go and find someone who fits. But how do we or you know you weren't thinking subconsciously of Hank Gathers?

I know I wasn't because I know Hank Gathers did not die of Marfan's Syndrome, but you want "proof". So, here you go.

In my post that you kept quoting, I specifically mentioned I read it in an article in Sports Illustrated at the time of Flo Hyman's death. The article I just linked is from March, 1986 - four years before Hank Gathers died. I also specifically mentioned that the player in question died during a pick up game, when his aorta burst, which is exactly how Chris Patton died. The details are exactly as I remembered them and match what I wrote in my original post. Hank Gathers died in a WCC tournament game against the University of Portland, not in a pick up game. I remember that well, too. I was watching that game when it happened. I remember how stunned everyone was that he died.

Chris Patton died in April 1976. Flo Hyman died in Jan. 1986.

Maybe you were subconsciously thinking of Len Bias, who died in June 1986, which fits you estimate of "about the same time" as Flo Hyman died, much better than Chris Patton.

I only want to help you, Boob. You have problems reconciling your levels of consciousness. An LSD trip would calm you down.

I said the Sports Illustrated article I rembered reading came out at the time of Flo Hyman's death. Look at the link I posted earlier. It's from March 1986, two months after Flo Hyman died. It references the exact article I was referring to in my original post. Chris Patton died in 1976, but the article in Sports Illustrated that mentions both him and Flo Hyman was published in March of 1986.

And no, I am not thinking of Len Bias. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I learned of his death. I worked with two guys from Maryland at the time. They were thrilled he was taken with the second pick, and then devastated less than two days later when they learned of his death.

You are truly one strange dude. Why do you think you know more about my memories than I do, and why does it matter so much to you? This obsession is starting to get uncomfortable. Why don't you focus on SlyPokerDog and his early puppyhood memory of the first time he peed on an electric fence.

Your obsession with destroying opponents through ambiguously diverting issues to straw men while cherry-picking numbers to feign objectivity...Freud said that with the advent of toilet training comes the child's obsession with anachronistic fixations. Think back. Do you remember anything unusual in your own toilet training?
