They can't shell out another large contract to another no defense playing big man. He has some nice skills (unlike Meyers), but we need a Noel type center right now if we're going to pay a center large amounts of money.

Too bad they didn't give Plumlee that 10 mil and let Meyers go. Plumlee is at least solid enough to hold down the fort or be a nice backup big. But we do need an upgrade defensively in the middle. Mason might be a cap casualty next year, because Portland is already way over the luxury tax threshold.

I agree. A contender would give a lot for him, and I think we'll be able to flip Vonleh, Napier, and our 2018 firsts for Noel.

He has value. I think that we need to maximize it. We put the ball in his hands too much and take it out of CJs and Dames. We need a legit rim protector/roll man to play off Dame and CJ, not to act as a Point Center and be a creator.

haha this has got to happen.

In all seriousness, I tend to agree with your op. Plumlee is just not suited as a starter imo, he would be an amazing backup, though. But, at the money he makes, yeah, Im not sure you want him as a backup.

Here's a thought, how about we wait until after Jan. 15th when Olshey can actually do something?

Nothing wrong with talking about what we think he should do until then.

I wish I could get some white out on Meyer's contract and forge Mason's signature on it. Then trade the Big Clueless One to a Fiba team in a Country where the Constitution changes every few years.

We have to keep Plumlee and let him play with an actual rim protector. Imagine all the easy lobs to someone like Noel.

Can't we get a center who is a little bigger? Has the guy even topped 230 yet?

Noel's weight doesn't really matter, he's got excellent length. Huge wingspan.

But if we want a real monster, go get Nurkic. He's not afraid of cousins either, if cousins spit his mouthpiece at Nurkic there would've been a fight.

He's listed on Google at 6-11 and 212 lbs. What the fuck? Is he built like a pencil?

He's added weight since he got in the league. He's around 230

I would try him at power forward first with a competent center who can defend. Move Crabbe and pick for Noel, then maybe try moving some pieces for Faried (rebounding, solid defense) or even Thad Young (cannot defend but at least scores from PF). Then try to build back the backcourt if we let Crabbe go as we will be left with hardly any cover. Galloway, Kilpatrick, whatever.
