Really sucks for the people who payed for tickets to watch it or even for paperview, what a waste of money. If Rousey does fight again it will be against a lesser opponent, so that she can go out on a win.
Ronda is a great athlete, and maybe could have been better with a real coach. Why didn't she train with a real MMA expert? Her coach is a joke.
She trained Judo with Gokor Chivichyan who also trained a number of Armenian MMA fighters. They were also associated with the team in Glendale. Edmond Tarverdyan is the head trainer there. She is very loyal to them.
I'm hearing that her problem was that Judo is just not enough in MMA; that nobody has ever won from a Judo background. I'm far from an expert on anything MMA; this is just what I've heard around the net since the fight. What say you?
No one questions her Judo skills, she's won many international competitions in Judo. The problem is her striking. She came into MMA with no striking history but was able to win with her judo and athletisism. Her coach is really a nobody in the MMA world.
Now the ironic thing is, Ronda is so downtrodden, she's actually an underdog. I actually feel kind of bad for her now and hope she comes back. She just REALLY needs to get some stand up skills before trying to get in the ring again.
LMAO, wow. Dana, you are so fucking full of yourself. You backed, financially and socially, a fighter who everyone with half a brain KNEW was going to get her ass handed to her. You exploited Rousey as some sort of side-show freak, all in the name of money, but your reputation is going to take a major hit, and so is your credibility. You are to Promoters what Miss Cleo was to clairvoyants. And you are NOT the victim here. She needs to drop the attitude and scowl as well. And stop going on Ellen with sob stories and bragging. If she does that, gets a new camp and trainer, takes a year off and properly trains, then I think she has a chance at a come back.
Ronda won the bantamweight belt and defended it seven times. She was facing top competition at the time. Amanda Nunes has losses to Cat Zingano and Alexis Davis, both of whom Ronda beat easily. The fact is that MMA is not boxing and nobody stays undefeated for long. There are too many parameters. The one thing you don't want to be is one note. Ronda's fault isn't coming in as a judoka, it was failing to develop in other areas. But her career is a far cry from failure. She's the most successful female MMA fighter ever. In terms of judo at large, Satoshi Ishii (14-7) is a gold medalist who's had a middling career in MMA. Double gold medalist Kayla Harrison is on her way in and at 26 is probably going to have enough time to develop in the lower leagues before jumping to the UFC (now that there is a featherweight/145-lbs. division being introduced). Rick Hawn (21-4) has had a very good career on the second tier. Yoshihiro Akiyama, Karo Parisyan, Hector Lombard, Dong Hyun Kim, and others have done well in MMA coming from a judo background.
Wont load. Anyone got the fight, or the knockout portion? I know UFC is super tight. Glad I didnt pay $50 for this.
NM Got it here. This is the best and worst video I have ever seen. @dviss1 You have my permission to take out the reed player in that vid. as a musician, I am disgusted.
I think a good promoter would've been able to make Nunes a household name for 100 million, just sayin'
