Not surprised to be reading such horse shit and I don't know why anyone would be. Must be coming from Paul Allen if true.

Am I looking at a different trade?
Ezeli & Ed is $14M out.
Bogut & the other dude is $12M in.
We wouldn't be in the LT this season.

He is a good passer, but I'd characterize him more as a hard screen, personally.

    Correct. My bad.

Brussino is a cap hit of $1M for two more years.

Not sure what the point of this article is. The problem(s) the Blazers now have are the same problem(s) they started the season with, a rim protecting center, and another player that can create his own shot.

Ezeli was never the long term answer to our rim defense problem, reason, health issues. He was a stop gap answer until a better answer could be traded for.

If Olshey is sitting on his hands with this group, there is not enough potential to development and improve to ever be a contender. At best, this rooster is a first or second round playoff team, "IF" they get their shit together.

Unless it's coming from Woj, I wouldn't believe anything that's written about portlands thinking, and even then I would be skeptical because Olshey could easily just be using him as a mouthpiece, something Woj is known to be ok with. He is the only one that has Olsheys trust. No one else knows anything.

This is not exclusive to the Blazers....realistically there are only 4 teams with potential to contend and 3 of them are in the West...everybody else is playing for the bronze until one of those teams drops off....it's like Pat Riley said when he coached the Knicks.....everybody is playing for second place until MJ retires...hopefully we CAN develop that team over the next year and a half...I don't see any trade scenarios that'll change that this season

First, I agree with everything you said, but want to take it a step further.

A case can be made almost every team in the West improved more than the Blazers did from last season.
Utah passed the Blazers and moving up strong.
The lowly Kings have a better record than the Blazers.
The Nuggets and Pelicans are hot on our heals.
Worst of all, the fucking Fakers are driving up our tailpipe.

In this competitive league, your team does not get stronger by doing little to nothing.

The title of the article is misleading. It's just some guy's take on the Chris Haynes article with ZERO new information. It has all the credibility of a forum post in a fancy wrapper.

We also can't make a trade that pushes DAL above the LT tax line. Why would they do that for the honor of giving us Bogut? They are less than $1 million below the LT threshold. So, the aggregate salaries going out and coming it would have to be a pretty good match.

Thankfully, by including another player or two on either side, there are lots of possible combinations that work.

So, the real question would be what would DAL take, and what are we willing to give it up? They'd probably want Plumlee, and that would hurt, but would we be able to afford to resign Plumlee if we don't trade him? At his age and with his energy and unique skill set, I think Mason Plumlee is ripe for a HUGE payday. Good for him Bad for us.

I'd be all for getting Bogut. He's a great defensive center, sets awesome (if questionably legal) screens and is a great passer. He has championship experience and knows all the tricks of the trade that our young guys can pick up from him. He's basically Chris Kaman with with defense and passing.

Not sure I get all the "rental" talk. Why is it preordained he wouldn't resign here? I know he'll be a UFA, but we'd hold his Bird Rights and be able to go over the cap to resign him. Given his age, I think he'll get much smaller offers come July 1 than Plumlee.

Instead of losing Ezeli's ~$7M off the books, you'd be adding $11M (or whatever Bogut signs for). Our starting point is already over the LT.

Ric Bucher (LOL, didn't know he was still doing NBA stuff) says Bulls are shopping Jimmy Butler.

You have to use Meyers if trading for Bogut (not literally have to as in every scenario but it is the easiest way to do it).

There are very few players I would deal CJ for. Butler is one of them though because Jimmy plays very good D. I doubt CHI would really trade him though.

I think they'd get a better offer than just CJ.

Agreed. CJ + choice of our pick collection.

But I was of the mindset that we can swoop in and get some big man scraps if Bulls were really to trade Butler away. Not necessarily trade for Butler, per se.

Probably. I bet there would be far worse offers though. I don't think it is outrageous with the right 1st round pick included.
