In the past I only ventured over to the OT page if it was something about movies/tv/electronics/cars, that type of thing. Never dared venture into the political threads. I always assumed the beefs between posters just formed here on the main page talking about our transition defense or substitution patterns.

After experiencing what goes on over there (I mistakenly asked a, what I thought was, a simple question about our new president to be) I was blown away at what I was reading. Curious if somebody you argue with all the time in a political thread on here carries over to a thread about our defense or trade rumors. Because there was some really bad stuff being tossed around at each other and I don't know how you would deal with that? I joke around on here cracking on people, but it's all good natured compared to what I was seeing in my thread. I'm sure some rookies I've messed with, could care less about what I post now and that's understood. Safe to say there are a few posters on here that I now have on IGNORE because of the hate I was reading. Could care less about what you think about Dame's shot selection after that. In fact, I'll go as far to say that after reading some of that crap coming from your finger tips, my whole opinion of this site has changed. In the past, I always kinda' looked forward to the meet and greets...... not to sure about that now. A bit frustrated by this actually. Now after starting this thread, I'm quite sure the ones who I'm talking about and who made me actually sick to my stomach with their opinions on all things USA will be the same ones blasting others and typing in all caps and exclamation marks like they do over there.

Don't worry guys, I won't be over there in your territory again. Peace to you all, no matter who you voted for.

I've learned one thing over the years. Be careful talking about politics and religion with people. I usually refrain from doing so unless it's with good friends who are capable of having a civil discussion without having a meltdown.

I have a few on ignore just to make it possible to post there and not get really pissed off. I think it's important to be able to talk with people who are photo negatives of myself and feel free to counter punch...life doesn't put opposite mind sets in a place to have these conversations when you're standing in a line at home depot....I sense that I get a reality check on humanity that I can totally avoid in my day to day life. I choose to enter a thread or ignore it...respond to a poster or not respond....there are days when I think I'm done with it, but really, it's just a local pub I don't have to drive to. When I was younger and still searching for goals in life, I wouldn't have spent the time ...now..it humors me. I love basketball...that won't change...politics...I exercise my freedom of speech whenever I can. My favorite OT site is the Random shit site with photography....that's been a great place to visit....election years suck....especially this one and it's about as polarizing as an election can get.

That's why we don't come down on people in OT. People do get upset over those topics. We understand that.

I like that, and it is funny because people say I'd never say the things I do to someone in person when in fact I censor myself more in OT.

I'm really glad I made a meet and greet and met a bunch of folks from here...humanized the place a lot...I've known Big John's mug and voice through Casey's old show and Road Trippin' etc...so it's different from meeting someone you've never seen them or heard them speak. You find out cool things like, Sly has a really convincing human costume....el prez is actually not like people I know from LA....etc....

There is a diverse group of people on here. There are Trump supporters and Hillary supporters. What I was reading in that thread you posted wasn't "disgusting", that's kind of an over reaction. I did see some comments on both sides that made me cringe but I read everything in there and didn't see anything that made me sick or whatever. It's just a reflection of our society, nobody can agree on anything or have a meaningful conversation, it's all yelling at each other and everybody is always right. The whole idea that if you don't believe what I believe than you are the worst person known to man. I mean we have one bitter guy in the OT section really going to town with the Trump posts, that's obviously a sensitive subject today, very rarely do I see other posts that aren't political. Is what it is, nothing anybody can really do about it. Freedom of speech and blah blah blah

If everyone would just agree with me there would be less arguing. I dont see the problem?
