I dont get it, I have been a Blazer fan since I can remember. I was born in 71' so I say about 76' I started remembering. I grew up playing basketball in HS, JR. College, and Walked on for D1 school. I have seen a lot of ball. When I critique something it doesnt mean I am a bandwagon fan or bad mouthing the team, shoot I have been waiting since 77' for a ring. I really like Dame, I just think alot of people are blinded by the .09 and think hes the piece to build around. To me he is a 3rd wheel in a championship not the drive line. I get so frustrated with the local sports media and them ignoring you when your opinion is not theirs. Just because most of them feel they have to be homers and not actual say what is wrong. Sorry everyone I had to get that off my chest . Go RIPCITY. Team CJ.

Appreciate the post. I don't think anyone should question someone else's fandom. Just a minor quibble though Dame is only at top 30 player (that is what 3rd wheel is)? I would say he is top 20 player but not top 10. That puts him as great 2nd option in my book. Plus you have consider a team like GS who gobbles up 4 top 30 players so top 2 options aren't easy for every team to come by.

I am saying Dame is a 3rd wheel on a Championship Roster. He can not be a Lead Dog or a Batman. Being the Biggest CJ fan out there I dont think CJ could be that either. But I can see CJ being a Point on a Championship Team with a Low Post guy and Athletic Wing. CJ has improved his Defense greatly in only really 2 years of playing time also so I see still major growth there. Is there major growth still left for Dame????

Lillard is the best player on the team, if we get two players that are better then him I would happily call him the 3rd wheel.

Your opinion Sly is greatly respected. I think CJ is best player on team with more growth potential.

1 team wins a championship every year. You know how hard it is to do that? 29 other teams don't. There are only 4 teams a year who are truly contenders. It is very tough to be one year and and year out.
I am going to say if we need 2 players better than Dame to win (which maybe we do, maybe we don't) then that just isn't going to happen. It is one a billion chance we get two via trade or draft. It just unfortunately isn't likely to happen. I hate to say it but prepared to be disappointed in that case.

I think Dame is a 2nd wheel easily (as I said) but we would need a #1 for sure (and a #3 if you are trading CJ) which is easier to get but still hard.

Okay, so our 5 wheeled cart has only 2 good wheels. Who in the local media is disagreeing with that?

Are we in this to win rings or are we in this to be happy making the playoffs? You think Dame and Cousins can beat the Cavs. Warriors, Spurs? NO!!!! How do we get to rings????

the 2nd wheel in Golden State is Stephen Curry, how in the world can Lillard be compared to him???

Lillard can be compared to their 3rd or 4th wheels, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson and you can make the argument that even those 2 are better than Dame.

I really loved Lillard until i saw his low ceiling, now i hate him because of the narrative around him that pretend him to be a 1st/2nd option on a championship team when he clearly isn't.

Local media starts to ignore you when you done agree with their opinion. I am ok with people an their opinion, mine is just an opinion, I might not be right. But why when ppl dont agree with your opinion your an out cast?

    1. That is a question for Portland Brass.

    2. No probably not.

    3. Get incredibly lucky.

What I can tell you is it doesn't happen over night. This isn't a 1 or 2 year process to get better than other teams right away.

That is the point I made above. GS has 4 top 30 players. Most other teams are lucky to have 2 top 30 players. Some only have 1 (or even none). We are lucky that we don't have none at least.

Of course no team's number two guy is going to compare to to GS's number two guy. It is an anomaly.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
By getting a generational superstar or two top-ten guys. Give us an idea of how Portland should accomplish that.

Do you know who could have been a 1st option on a championship team?

    Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

and we passed on both of them.

and i still have to read that Portland fans "hate the draft" when is clearly the only way to compete BUT YOU HAVE TO SELECT THE RIGHT GUYS, NOT THE LILLARD'S OR MCCOLLUM'S WHO ONLY SELL TICKETS.

    Not Sly.

I was just helping Sly understand your issues with the local media. I thought that tweet helped illustrate the concerns.

    Was I wrong?

If you are saying Irving is a better option than Lillard then I am absolutely going to disagree with that. Lowry too. They are fine players and that is the level Lillard is on but I put him just a hair over them. I do agree with you that if Lillard played with LeBron and Kevin Love then he could win it all. But why would that be surprising?

How come the Raptors, Celtics, Rockets and Clippers don't win it all? Because only one team can. They are all very good teams but it takes great teams. You think they aren't trying to do the same thing as us and get another top 30 player? They don't grow on trees. There are only so many to go around especially when 1-3 teams are hogging more then there fair share of them.
