I'll throw this out there, Portland probably need to send their draft pick to Orlando. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gr5dv6l

OK, I'll keep talking to myself. If that trade basically blows all our young assets (if teams even consider Crabbe and Vonleh as valuable, who knows?) and our lottery pick and we don't get back Butler or Cousins, what the hell difference does it make?

I want Okafor. I was against it when it was supposed to be CJ but since they were supposedly almost ready to deal him for Ajinca and a lottery protected pick, it's time to buy low. They'd likely deal him for Crabbe and it would be a good deal for both sides. He is poor defensively but very young, on a small contract and will be tradeable in the future if he doesn't work here. He was very good in his rookie season and even destroyed Towns in their first NBA matchup.

I'd take him. People were speculating of trading CJ for him last year. Former #3 pick with loads of upside and is still extremely young. A new situation might be all he needs. Having Dame and CJ on the team to personally mentor him would be huge. We would need to bring in a legit big man coach to teach him some D, though.

All right, I am going to finally fix this up. Nobody is talking about it, but Chicago has to be ready to blow this up. And maybe they are interested in Okafor. Here goes:

    1. Portland will give crabbe for Okafor plus a Philadelphia pick, both these will go to Chicago.

    2. Chicago will send Butler, Wade and Lopez to Portland in return for Ezeli, Harkless, Vonleh, Davis their pick(s) of Napier, Layman, Connaughton. We will give both our first round picks.

    3. I think it's a fair deal for Philly, they would surely give up their 2018 first round pick in this deal.

    4. Chicago gets rid of two and a half years of salary on Wade and 3 and a half of Lopez. (they might love the trade a lot more if we took the two and a half years of Rondo's contract instead, since he is not really a tradeable asset anymore, that will also work salary wise). They get three first round picks plus young guys in Vonleh, Okafor and Harkless. That is a real start on a rebuild! Ed Davis should be a tradeable asset for them if they give him some playing time.

Reading this thread the consensus seems to be that Okafor is a good fit on a team with a good big man coach, and an offensive scheme that utilizes a big post presence.

    Clearly that's Portland. [/green font]

Question now is whether or not Portland is done dealing? We just picked up an extra first. Could make it easier to trade that Cleveland pick for Ibaka ;)

I think we would have same problem DEN had with Jokic and Nurkic in this scenario. Would rather go PF now.

I wonder if we'd offer Crabbe and Mem pick for Ibaka? I'd have mixed feelings about that

That's an Ibaka trade I would be okay with.

I don't see why, that'd be a half-year rental, when we have no chance of getting higher than 8th.

So say we get the 11th pick, 21st pick, and 27th pick. How high could those get us if we traded up? Maybe 6th?

I wonder if Giles falls to 16 or so. We could probably package 21 and 27 for 16. I'd do that trade and take a chance on Giles.

I don't think we are really looking to the draft, I think the picks will be used to land a guy like Boogie, Butler, or maybe even AD (pipe dream).

Those picks don't have enough value. Harkless and our 3 firsts are really our only good trade pieces.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
AD is out of reach. The picks alone aren't going to get a player like Cousins or Butler. You'd need to be willing to part with Lillard or McCollum too. No one is giving up a young-prime star player without getting one back (especially since Cousins has reportedly signaled willingness to re-sign in Sacramento).
