Most MLB teams have the prospect depth to trade for a star player. Not the case with NBA teams.

That wouldn't work due to there both low post scorers.

Who else is appealing other than Butler though?

    Since always?

Mariners managed to trade for Jean Segura by giving up prospects in Walker and Marte. Most teams can trade for stars if they give up their top rated prospects.

Exactly. They could have gotten a good deal for Taj last season, not anymore. McDermott and Mirotic haven't really panned out either. They should be looking to clear cap space to build via free agency.

Segura hit .320 last year, led the NL in hits, and is a good defensive player to boot. He was an NL All-Star.

How would you not consider him a star?

Yes we do! They're called "Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum".

He had a good year. Hardly a star. Just look at what Arizona gave up for him The year before.

He changed his swing before last year though. Last year was no fluke.

Not interested in anyone else. I still think there is a chance if it is the three-way trade with Philadelphia which clears space for us to absorb both of their bad contracts (Wade and Rondo); I don't think Boston has a way of doing that. Not likely to happen, but there's always a chance.

Like what? How can we clear over $50M?

Crabbe, Leonard, Ezeli, and Davis only clear $42M

And somehow we'll get them to trade Butler for only draft picks and cap space? Not happening.

There is some truth to that. Cleveland earlier traded 4 really good prospects for Andrew Miller. But MLB teams cannot trade draft picks so I think it evens out.

And it was the trade of the year. By Francona using Miller as a long reliever in the playoffs, he basically sent them to the WS.

Bones Jones, I am so disappointed in you, you have not been clicking on my trade links. I always click on yours! I have posted this one at least twice today.

This one has Lopez in it since he has one year more on his contract than Rondo, but
Rondo has about the same salary so that works also. My idea is we get a draft pick from Philly to add to Chicago stash but once they smell we need this three way I doubt they would do that. Of course Chicago would have the option of taking any or all of Napier, Connaughton and Layman, plus probably 4 first round draft picks. If they played Davis and re-established his value, they could trade him for another pick, he has a great contract. This also nets them Okafor. To summarize, we get rid of two expensive almost dead contracts (Wade going downhill fast) for them, give them young Harkless at a very reasonable contract, Okafor, Vonleh, 4 draft picks and any of our other tidbits they might be interested in.
