I wouldn't mind getting hold of Lyles he be a up grade at power foward. But I don't think they would take Myers though.

Not sure we could trade Meyers for Lyle Lovett?

You won't trade Meyers for anyone of value. I'm just hoping someone will be willing to dump an equally crap contract on us in exchange for Meyers, and we somehow manage to turn that player into something useful. Even a deal like the one Bucks just did where they acquired Hawes and Hibbert for Plumlee would be tremendous value for us.

Players who make $8M - $11M but are not particularly good: Jon Leuer, Solomon Hill, Amir Johnson, Mirza Teletovic, Jared Dudley, Omer Asik, Kosta Koufos, Courtney Lee.

Don't be surprised if they add another inside big.
Jahlil Okafor in the Enes Kanter role makes sense.

Teams love Harkless, but so does Portland.
    Nobody is untouchable.

Aminu attractive to playoff teams. Boston has inquired, among others.
Do whatever you have to do to turn Aminu into Ante Zizic.

    Shopping Ezeli hard
Sure. For a late first rounder this year.

Crabbe drawing interest from Knicks and Toronto
The Knicks aren't trading their first-rounder. Willy Hernangomez would be my target.

Zizic is a good idea. Maybe try to get Yabusele also.

Does Okafor fit next to Nurkic?

    Raptors

HAVE: League sources insist Toronto will not give away any more young assets such as Delon Wright, Jakob Poeltl, Lucas Nogueira, Pascal Siakam, Norm Powell or Fred VanVleet, but that doesn’t mean a package can’t be put together. They have the expiring contract of Jared Sullinger, another 2017 first-round draft pick and a glut of point guards they could put together.

NEED: The roster imbalance was addressed by the departure of wing Terrence Ross for Ibaka, but Toronto still could use an offensively creative big small forward. (Aminu is 'creative'. Any interest in their young players plus either of TOR or LAC 1st round picks which they own for 2017?)

    Celtics

HAVE: Arguably the biggest chip in the trade game is Brooklyn’s 2017 first-round draft pick — it’d be No. 1 today — and the Celtics own it. Amir Johnson’s $12-million expiring contract might look good as well.

NEED: The Celtics have a good team verging on very good, but they lack a stud wing. If they can try to pry Jimmy Butler away from the Chicago Bulls, it’d be the game-changer in the conference. That’d be a tough signal for the Bulls to send their fans, though, and might be more likely in the summertime. (Portland doesn't have much that would help Boston)

    Wizards

HAVE: Not an awful lot to offer because their starting five is solid, but the bench doesn’t have anybody that many teams would want. They’re more likely to do something relatively minor, if they do anything at all.

NEED: Williams from the Lakers as a scorer off the bench, even with his defensive deficiencies, would address a serious need, but the starters are sound and it’s hard to imagine breaking them up. (Not a lot to choose from coming back unless you like Porter or Oubre.)

    Boston has:
    - a swap with BKN in 2017
    - BKN's unprotected BOS pick outright in 2018
    - Their own pick in 2018
    - LAC's lotto protected first round pick in 2019
    - MEM's top 8 protected pick in 2019
    - Their own pick in 2019

I'll take any of those for Aminu/Ed/Meyers/AC

Obviously they won't give any of Brooklyn's picks for anybody we have but it'd be nice to get a future pick back for Meyers, Davis or Aminu. They will never in a million years take Crabbe.

In a different offense. Okafor and Nurkic are both low post guys.

    UGH.

Give me a shot at Miles Bridges than a 4-game sweep at the hands of the Warriors.

Give me a 1% shot at landing a Top 3 pick than a 4-game sweep at the hands of the Warriors.

Exactly - a chance is better than no chance. You gotta be in it to win it!

I've always been against tanking, even though it's fun to think about elite prospects on your team. Tanking is just such a loser thing to do, and does it really ever work? Think about it. The draft is a crapshoot, even if you get a top 5 pick, the odds are still against you that you will land a star. Although in portlands case, they already have the hardest thing to find; go to scorers...and they have two of them, so maybe we should tank? Idk fuck it.

Cleveland got Lebron. San Antonio got Duncan. Clippers got Griffin. Cowboys got Zeke. Broncos got Von Miller. Panthers got Newton. Raiders got Mack.

Tanking doesn't always work, but there are plenty of examples of when it has.

I suspect most people around the league (players, coaches, executives) thought Portland caught a few lucky breaks in the playoffs and punched above their weight for awhile. If the perception was that they really were on the cusp of being a true title contender, it's conceivable that the playoff run could have been a little more helpful if it didn't look so fluky.

Doesn't really help your argument when you have to pull in another sport, and most of those teams weren't even "tanking."
