There is no way that was a good deal. The only positive out of this for Kings is that their pick will now not go to Chicago because it's top 10 protected and there is no way in hell that team will now avoid being a top 10 lotto pick. This could have been achieved without this ridiculous deal too.

Hield is not a great player. He is not even that young, he is older than Bradley Beal who has been in the league for 4 years for example. Galloway is just a rotation player. Tyreke will leave at the end of season. New Orleans pick will now probably be 16-20 range.

If that's true then I'll shed a tear for every die hard kings fan. Wow I'd be sick to my stomach if Neil made such an incompetent decision.

We're not talking about a 2-3 year rebuild with buddy, we are talking 5-10 years. With Drummond they could at least have put something as competitive as they had together in 2-3 years.

    1. Cousins is a free agent after next season, not this season. There was plenty of time to listen to offers on him.

    2. That is yet to be seen. You could be correct, or the Kings could be an extremely poorly ran organization which never put the right players around him.

    3. They got two picks out of their runaway most valuable player. Danny Ainge laughs at the comparison.

Anthony Davis is the exact stretch power forward that we are lacking. He and cousins will work perfect together. It's not like Webber/Howard at all.

Trying to mimic Ainge's plan by sending their picks to Philadelphia while stripping down the team to the core minimum?

Let's not forget Mitch Kupchak is also an awful GM. The Lakers turned down trading Brandon Ingram for Cousins, who reportedly likes LA as a destination. They would have had a great shot as resigning him.

Two stars who are used to getting the ball, will get into each other's way, whose shots overlap...Nope. Look at how perfectly their favorite shots complement each other.

Cousins is Mr. Inside-Outside and Davis (the uterus pattern) is the forward.

I refuse to believe this. Ingram for Cousins would have been a better deal for Sacramento but still an utterly terrible one, but Lakers would have never turned that down. That'd be unthinkable for a) Sacramento to suggest this willingly, b) Lakers turn that down. That is actually two franchises acting like idiots.

Is there a team in the league that has the players to guard that front court? Meyers Leonard's trade value just went up. Leonard for Durant? Sell it as thr only way the Warriors will stop the towers!

Let me pose a question to you.

Looking back, assuming Portland was a clear non contender, and he was a complete malcontent and cancer, would you have traded Aldridge for 2 1sts instead of losing him for nothing

They will be an insane frontcourt. Both can stretch the play, both are good defenders and rebounders (Davis even elite) and both are capable of scoring 30+ on most nights (even 40+). It's not even the case of one team having two great players, it's a case of a team having two generational talents in positions that are hardest to defend in today's NBA largely because of how much small ball has been adopted.

It was reported that the talks broke down when Ingram wouldn't be included. Yes, the Lakers are still awful too.

They did not get two firsts, they got one which will end up being around 16-18 most likely, and a player who is 23, was a no 5 pick in a poor draft and was drafter at an advanced age for a rookie and has generally not proven to be a good draft pick so far. I would not have traded Aldridge for that 1.5 years before his contract runs out, no chance.

Buddy Hield and a mid-first rounder for Cousins is a terrible deal. They literally got nothing back.

And if the Pelicans go on a tear which is very possible, then that pick could end up being in the low 20's.

On the plus side this bodes well for the Kings' own pick. They might win 3 games the rest of the season, Boogie literally was their team.

The problem with trading for Buddy is that the Kings have a horrible track record of developing guards and most young talent in general. He'll be Ben McLemore 2.0. They should have at least got Ingram and picks from LA, since he has some physical tools.

Kings will tank badly but even if they get a top 3 pick they will have to give it to 76ers if it's better than theirs. There is a good chance 76ers will end up with no. 7 or something.

    Considering Kings history of drafting...

You're aghast at the new NBA salary landscape. Portland has 50M tied up in Lillard and CJ. Crabbe & Turner make 35M between them... hell Meyers & Harkless both are scheduled to make 10M. If anything, the Pels have wiggle room to land a decent FA or two to add to their mix after signing Jrue.

    Ouch is Curry's next contract
