Mirotic would be interesting, and might be a great choice if we cannot get one of the big guns. I would hesitate to take him unless we could really give him some minutes. He seems like a nice stretch 4 who plays decent defense. But, he isn't a shoe in and if he didn't really excel I would be worried he could be a distraction. In many ways he is a more experienced Layman.

It would be great to have a better defender at that position, but if we cannot get PG and Vonleh doesn't develop then having a Mirotic/Layman combo might work okay.

He sounds more like Noel with Bill Cartwright's mechanics.

With his range, he reminds me a lot more of Ibaka than Gobert.

I don't think we have a 2nd this year, but I'm sure Neil wouldn't find it too terribly difficult to pick one up if Boucher were a guy he wanted.

It's really just that long & skinny frame, coupled with the idea that he's a rim protector, that makes me think Gobert. Aside from his photo on the DX page you linked, I've never seen the guy, and I only skimmed the report.

what about the dude the mock has us taking with the Memphis pick?
he's a 3 year guy not a 4 year guy like the ones listed, but is ranked much higher...

I hope Zach Collins declares, he'd be a good pick for us

Of all Oregon Ducks, Jordan Bell is the one I want us to target. He's more physically ready for the NBA than Boucher and is just as dominating down low protecting the paint. Factor in his elite athleticism for his size and improving jumper, I think he'll be a steal for any NBA team that picks him up.

Certainly a guy worth taking a flyer on if you can do it for cheap. I haven't seen him play. Is his shot slow or just awkward? Guys with slow releases seem to really struggle in the NBA.

I posted in the other trade deadline thread but I will say it again. Derrick Favors. It would take a LOT but he fits what we need like a glove.

Big jump from NCAA to NBA. Vonleh would have crushed him at the college level.

As much as I hate to say it, Boucher won't be an NBA player, at least not of the reliable quantity type. As someone else on here put it, the guy has had 5 years in college to put on ANY amount of weight and utterly failed. He weighs less than I do at an averagely built 6'0. Whether its work ethic or just an inability to put on weight (some people are weird like that), Boucher won't be able to compete in the NBA because of his lack of any amount of size or strength. Compounding the problem is his extremely narrow frame -- even if he DID put on a few lbs, he wouldn't be able to carry the amount of weight necessary to even be a reliable 4 in the league...

While he's a fantastic college player and an all-time Duck, I'm afraid he's more a skinnier Austin Daye than he is Gobert...

100% agree with this. I wouldn't mind us taking him with Cleveland's pick at all. Bell would be an ideal fit in an offense that would heavily feature CJ, Dame, Nurk and ideally another scoring wing.

He's an unrestricted free agent this summer, and UTA is looking down the barrel at a massive payday.

Doubt it takes much to get him.

Not sure I want him either. Nurkic destroyed him.

Favors has one year, but isn't a star by any stretch of the imagination. He's worse than Thaddeus Young this year. Injuries + age are taking a big toll. He's still better than nay PF on the Blazer roster, but don't give up much if he's a target.

He is better than anyone at SF we have too (not that I saying play him there). Derrick Favors is 25. Definitely not age catching up to him. Injuries? Never heard of one for him until this last off-season. So injury yes. Injuries no.
Last year he put up 16.4 pts and 8.1 rbs a game, this year he is recovering from being hurt so I not surprised his stats are down. You don't get a chance for a guy like this unless their is a wart. Luckily this one isn't long-lasting imo.

Favors is another guy who, if we can get cheaply enough, would be a very nice add to the roster...

    Hello darkness, my old friend
If Portland's draft pick ends up around #10, I'd be okay with trading two or even all three picks to get Favors, if he's actually available. A young-prime power forward of his ability would be a perfect addition to the long-term core.

If Portland does really well in the lottery, though, and their pick is substantially higher, I don't know that I'd want to include it.
