But if the Pistons are offering up pope also you have to at least consider it.

First, I don't think DET would offer quite that much. But, I would consider that, indeed. Pope with Drummond? That is closer. But I actually think I would rather keep CJ over Dame (as crazy as that is - not that I think POR agrees) plus, as I said, CJ's contract makes it VERY hard to deal him until summer.

If one of them were traded..CJ is younger and has way fewer miles on the wheels than Dame...my sports car comparison

Not that I think either is going to happen but I would go after Butler instead of Paul George with the latter saying he either wants to stay with Indy or sign with the Lakers in 2018. I believe him too. He grew up a purple and piss fan.

I like KCP, but he's up for a big payday like Crabbe this summer when he's eligible for his new contract. We couldn't afford to keep him around.

There are just a few hours to go till the NBA Trade Deadline at 12:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m Eastern) But for the Blazers, there may be several months before some of the major moves are made. If the Blazers don’t make any more moves, they will have acquired an extra year at a very affordable salary for the center position in Bear Nurkic. They will also have three 1st round Draft picks with which to trade, consolidate or leverage into something better. The one(s) they keep will be inexpensive rookie contracts which they will desperately need.

And here in lies a problem. With just Varejao and Ezeli (likely) coming off the cap as of now, the Blazers will still be near a robust $130,000,000 with the projected cap to be around $102,000,000 and the Luxury Tax around $122,000,00. That puts Portland in the unenviable position of having to make moves to get under the Luxury Tax and that is not a position of strength.

So, does that provide more incentive to move pieces now and try to relieve some of that Cap pressure so there isn’t so much to around June? Of course, they will still have some time through the year and up to next season’s Trade Deadline but it would seem prudent to take little bites here and there versus being forced into one big chunk at the end.

Davis, Crabbe, Aminu and Harkless had all been inquired about but Portland might be running out of teams willing to trade them a 1st round pick. Otherwise, they need someone to make an unbalanced trade where more salary goes out than comes in so a team like Philly which is well under the Salary Cap.

Many discussions have been had right up to yesterday but still nothing that had relieved much in terms of cap maneuverability. Portland has been in discussion with a number of teams and more than just the mentions of Philly, Indy and Detroit. It seems like many teams are waiting on Philly and Boston to do whatever they are going to do with Chicago or others and then other teams will fall in line.

    The Countdown is on!

There's nothing I anticipate more than some sweet, sweet cost-cutting moves. I hope Olshey takes Pritchard's stupid cake and reduces the calories.

I hope we make a move tomorrow - we need to do something now, and something later.

Neil needs to eat a now and later! That'll inspire him!

When you boil it down like that, it loses a lot of the romance and magic.

    But yeah.

Hope for something good, but expect nothing. That way you're not disappointed.
