Bogut will likely get bought out and go join some contending team. I wouldn't be surprised to see Okafor stay put for now. Damn, Philly has a lot of good draft picks.

I wonder if PHI will flip Bogut to another team (like BOS) for an additional pick. There are playoff teams that have a much greater need for a 32-year old rebounding, defensive big man than PHI.

I know the deadline is near, but I'm surprised they didn't already have another trade for Bogut lined up. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Dallas just traded Crowder and a pick to Boston for a 25 game Rondo rental two years ago.

These guys don't have the best trade record.

This also gets them above the salary floor. They may have felt that they were better off saving the money.

Maybe they're working the phones trying to see if CLE, BOS, TOR, and friends will part with a late first.

Is there a way we can scoop up Bogut without triggering the first luxury tax hit?

Cuban gets desperate. Overpaying Wes was another example of that.

I will laugh if Bogut goes to the Cavs, and the Cavs beat GSW again.

Basically, Philly gave up Noel and cash for a 2018 draft pick.

I dunno. Doesn't seem like much of a return to me. Just because Anderson was a first-round pick doesn't mean he's going to really be any good. If being a first-rounder means you're going to be any good, wake me up when Nolan Smith reappears in the NBA.

I get why NO didn't grab him, but I don't consider this a great haul for Philly, either.

Sure, if we trade only Festus for him and the don't resign Bogut this summer.

With the protection on that pic, that really is not very much for Noel. There will be a lot of questions, which Neil won't answer, about if Portland could have offered similar or better to bring in an asset like Noel.

I still don't think Noel is the best fit next to Nurk. I like that he can block shots but if he is out on the perimeter guarding stretch 4's he won't be in position to protect the rim. We need a better outside shooter if we intend to resign him for a large amount.

No, they gave up Noel for a first and cash savings (Bogut gets them above the floor, saves them roughly $5M, net)

reason Neil likely did not grab him is his RFA status this summer is my guess, we can't afford another 20 mil or so contract to match

True. But they could have grabbed a different player with more potential and somehow that could have helped them long-term. They could have acquired an asset, rather than a contract to dump.

Hence why I said I understand why NO didn't go after Noel.... I think you missed that part of my post.

But that still doesn't mean that Philly got a good return.

If they view Anderson as an asset, perhaps they feel they did. Low minutes, but he is a 15+ PER player so far this season (despite 40% FG, 30% 3P)
