So, should I renew? Would you?

I'm a half-season ticket holder (2 seats) for about a decade. Renewal time is upon us. This is the first time that I have seriously thought about not renewing.

I don't find this team very interesting or very fun to watch at this point. And I don't see where it's going. The perennial 8th seed and out - blah. I don't want to be short-sighted, and clearly Neil will have to make a big trade, but . . . would you put your hard-earned money on this team? It's different than liking them, or not, or posting on a forum. This is what it is for the next few years, isn't it?

    I just don't know.

If I could afford it, I would. I'm excited about Nurkic. I'm intrigued by the prospects available in the draft. I'm optimistic about Neil's ability and desire to make major changes in the offseason given the assets available. I'm curious to see how the team would look even this season if it were fully healthy.

I can understand why people are frustrated, but there are reasons to be positive about the future if you look for them.

Easy to say when it isn't my money (maybe if you said about how much then I could tell you for sure) but I think there is a lot of promise in the team going forward. I expect big things in the draft (not necessarily even picking but maybe even a great trade).

We have two guys who want to be here badly and are close to stars (if not already). I am not sure when the last time you could say that is. Most are looking to run away.

That doesn't even mention Nurkic who I am just ecstatic with.

it's not so much this team but basketball in general. maybe i turned 30 and finally grew out of it but i dont think so. i still love the game. the league is just a total marketing campaign and feels more and more like advertising and less like actual sport.

My thought on it: Since you don't get the luxury of seeing into the future and have to make the decision before the big decisions (trades, draft, etc.) are made... I would say no to NEXT year... and then re-evaluate at the middle of next year for the following year. That's my opinion, though, only because you have to make a decision before the end of this year.

If I could afford it, and lived a little closer, I would. But the "afford it" part is so subjective. I don't even know at what point I'd feel I'd crossed that line. It's a lot of cheddar, that's for sure. I think the team is going to get better and more fun to watch after this season. But then again, I'm a fan, so by definition, I'm delusional.

    How much are the tickets?

I would not assume this is how it is for a few years. Things change quickly.

I'm a Murphys Law kinda guy, so if you don't renew you'll regret it because of their magical championship run you weren't a part of.

So don't renew, and let us have this. Take one for the team

I may be the last guy to listen to. The game is in an all time low in style of play. Far too guard oriented, no big man play (non contact). Our team is hard for me to invest the time to watch an entire games on TV, so the concept of paying for games, making the effort to drive, pay for parking, and over priced drinks..out of the question.

I'd still enjoy the home games, win or lose myself...find something about the game to enjoy..it's sort of like summer league to me from here on...tryouts for rotation spots..Nurk is fun to watch..seeing Dame and him work well together is cool!

I wouldn't even hesitate. I'd still have season tickets now if I could afford them.

    retired, while you work!
20 months ago, Olshey quickly rebuilt after losing Aldridge. We thought that was just a start. We expected him to continue rebuilding. But since then, here are all the changes Olshey has made. We are still the same half-team we were after the quickie rebuild almost 2 seasons ago.

    free agents
    Festus Ezeli (replaced Kaman)
    Evan Turner (replaced Alexander)
Quarterman (replaced Brian Roberts who replaced Tim Frazier)

    trades
    Josuf Nurkic (replaced Plumlee)
    Shabazz Napier (replaced Henderson)

    draft
    Jake Layman (replaced Montero)

2 trades in 20 months (plus we bought Roberts in a trade for cash). 2 summers...2 midseason trade deadlines...Other teams kept improving, while Olshey took a nap...I just can't understand why other teams passed us in the standings...

It's not necessarily a binary decision. You could get the half a season and split it so you only have a quarter of a season - 10 or 11 games.

my family has had season tickets since the championship season.
    we're not renewing.
the organization has become a money hungry POS that repeatedly puts average product on the floor every year.
i love the blazers but its not worth the money anymore....and listening to them peddle the same BS about looking towards the future has run its course.
maybe if they are ever championship contenders we'll get tickets again.

    Yes you should renew.

And you should tip your Blazer forum moderators.

So you guys continued to renew thru the jail blazers era? The 20 win seasons? But you won't renew now because the team is "money hungry" even though Paul Allen is paying the 2nd highest payroll in the NBA this season? And the team continues to play hard with two stars who are complete role models anyone can ask for?

    Interesting

Save your money . Buy a quality used BMW or Lexus. If you know a friend of a friend that has a car dealers' license, pay a small royalty and purchase something stellar from an auction for a couple of hundred dollars above their costs. Listen to the games on the radio while you gorge on Taco's in the drive through. IMG_1886 bmw interior.JPG
