The team looks totally different this year. Guzman and Blanko actually give focus to the attack. If the defense can solidify they could be really good. It's so much fun to watch a Portland team that isn't hampered by pampered millionaires who refuse to sign here. It's one of the reasons I love soccer.
Wow Fernando Adi finally starting to break out. Haven't watched the Timbers much in the last year though, but definitely wish them success.
He's always been a great stand up striker. Just gets caught up in petty fouls and complains to the ref. But we'd be screwed without him.
Nagbe broke out before Adi did, so I wouldn't say he's always been great for the Timbers. Hasn't Adi been on the Timbers since the expansion draft?
His first year he had to adjust to the league but since then he's been great. Every player takes about a year to adjust to the MLS. I don't care if they are Frank Lampard or Joe Smoe. As good as Nagbe was for that period of time in the Cup run, if anything he's regressed. I think he needs to move to Europe to fufill his talent. But Portland has no plans to move him.
Who knows what this season has in store for Adi, but he's been pretty damn good ever since he got here. It's Fanendo not Fernando.
