Can we just waive Ezeli; I see NO waived an injured Lance Stephenson and signed another guy, although Stephenson was on a one year non-guaranteed contract.....
The problem with Cliff Alexander is that he's just a hair over 6'7". Not sure how he'll solve the dearth of big men on the team. @HCP , dearth is an ostentatious way of saying lacking. Ostentatious is a synonym for Fancy. Synonym is a word that can be used in place of another word, because it means the same thing as the other word.
We should be able to get an injury exception and sign a guy for 10 day contracts? Why else are they insured? With Festus, Ed and Meyers hurt it seems you could bring in a guy for the playoffs...not sure how that plays out. Hell bring Kaman in for a backup....
Sure, but his standing reach of 9'1.5" is equal to Nurkic's, with a significantly better vertical. What's that they say, "You don't play basketball with the top of your head"? He's much more a legit big than Aminu or Harkless are, and that would be the point. He's got good weight and a low center of gravity that allow him to defend the post. Remember Chuck Hayes? I'd take him to back-up Nurkic than anyone we have on the roster, and he's only 6'6". Point is, Alexander plays like a big, regardless of how tall he is.
I'm not sure what it says about me, but when I read the thread title, I assumed this was going to be a story about how Meyers reads the forum and cries.
Nobody's saying Alexander is "a great player", but he is playing great in the D-league, and he is a big who knows our team and system. His game is much different now than it was last year, and he was considered an elite prospect just a couple years ago. Remember, Whiteside was a second round pick, was waived by the Kings, and then spent a couple years in the D-League before he figured it out and became an elite center. I'm not saying Alexander is a future all-star, but the fact that we cut him once shouldn't preclude us from being willing to bring him back when we need what he can provide.
I don't know about that anymore. He's developed some post moves and a nice hook shot with either hand.
Here's a question; could we theoretically trade Ezeli before free agency begins? I think there is a rule you can't trade guys with expiring/team options but I'm not sure. If we can, we should hold onto him through the draft just in case we need his contract to match salaries. If not, we may as well just cut him now.
If Alexander were any good, he would have been called up, or at least be on this Top 10 list of who should be called up. http://fansided.com/2017/02/07/nba-d-league-rankings-jones-cook-benson/ Now THIS is who we should be considering. http://www.ridiculousupside.com/201...-league-head-coaches-who-deserve-nba-call-ups
Oh well, OK, if chris from fansided says so. We don't have time to integrate a player into the system. We need someone ready to go, and Alexander is the best and most realistic option.
