Yes. He leads the league in uncontested rebounds. Essentially the bigs just box out so he can grab them. I also saw some stats about him getting more assists at home than he does on the road, which leads to questions about the legitimacy of his stat numbers on his home court. Make no mistake, he's a wonderful player, but I think his triple double average is questionable.
I'm sure most players have their home stats embellished (at least the stats that can be subjected to opinion, steals, assists, etc). I remember fans saying that Stocktons assists were padded at home, but I don't feel like looking it up to see. If I had a few hours where I felt like putting on my nerd hat I would. I know that when Blake went nuts with the assists in that first quarter against the Clippers (?) years ago, some of those were generous assists credited to him by the home stats guys. I do think Westbrook has made a point of concentrating on easier ways to get rebounds, knowing full well that even if people noticed it and pointed it out, most wouldn't care.
someone has to get those easy FT miss boards, why not him? and as far as him not contesting many 3 pointers, its probably partially because he is all over those players so they dont shoot as many. i mean, i hate the dude, but this shit is pretty weak.
I posted the link to the reddit thread about this in another thread a couple of days ago http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/around-the-nba-march-2017.309804/page-29#post-4122716
Of course he is but he still very good player. Only thing I know the last 2 games against him we didn't allow him a triple double.
Yeah those rebounds he gets takes TONS of talent. I'm not sure anyone else in the league could clear the boards that Russ does.
He may be stat padding, but just look at the results. 5 more wins than our team, and if you put aside Lillard/Westbrook, Portland is more talented, really.
They have a balanced team with Adams in the middle, and their defense has been legit. With Nurk, were a way better team and would have more wins to show for it.
Also important to note: when Westbrook "pads his stats" aka gets a triple double, his team has a much better record.
Id be curious to know how many threes are put up against him vs other PG's in the league. That would be a tell. Bravo sir. Really the only post in this thrad that matters!
