For those who say I'm never negative, well here you go. It's over. We're not making the playoffs. We're still in 8th with the tiebreaker, but we are about to play three of four games against the best centers in the league and we have no center. I'm sure I'm captain obvious to most of you and others may be glad we'll be in the lotto. The thing I didn't count on as Denver winning at both Miami AND New Orleans. I didn't see that coming. I think the most we'll win of these next four is TWO tops. That means we need two Denver losses. Houston, Pels, Thunder, Thunder, Mavs. You would think there could be two losses in there but they're not playing Jameer Nelson anymore and it seems to have given them the new life. Our only hope is if Dame AND CJ show up every night. Dame blew these last two games. I hope he can't turn things around at home. I hate the idea of this coming down to the last game: Meyers/Aminu vs Cousins/Davis. Tha is a fucking loss. I'm really pissed. At least we have Nurk next year. Things were so fun around here before Nurk down. I've never seen MM be so positive about the Blazers. Maybe this is all for the best. We showed we could compete with Nurk and then his leg tanked us into the lotto. Who knows? Maybe we'll win that!
The Spurs will be resting players and the Pelicans are eliminated from the Playoffs and might mail it in that final game on the road. I think we still make it. Just not looking forward to the thrashing we are in for against the Warriors.
I want the Warriors so badly. I've been planning to do a podcast throughout the playoffs (Eric Millegan's Speeding Through the NBA Playoffs) but my heart might not be in it if we don't even qualify. My favorite weekend of the year is the first weekend of the playoffs. This is all ruined if we don't qualify after seemingly having it locked up.
I will be disappointed if we don't make the playoffs, but now that we have Nurkic, the future is bright. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed Blazers games as much as I have this year with Nurkic on the team.
The gut punch hurt when I was at work and read Nurk was out for 2 weeks.... we had just spent 4 months watching the inconsistency of this team, then we get a godsend in Nurk. Even the most pessimistic person had hope. It was so much fun. It was not a fluke that we got so much better. 20 games (close to) of Nurk in there and everyones game elevated. It hurt. LUCKILY, we'll have him for next year and (hopefully) years to come. So as much as this sucks, it's really cool to see where it goes.
Ever want to be a guest on a podcast? Trying to get Kevin from Blazer Fans LA on one to talk about the group a bit.
There's a decent chance the Blazers still make the playoffs. The Nuggets aren't consistently good and could easily eat a few losses over their final five. I expect them to lose on Wednesday to Houston, unless Harden actually sits out despite chasing an MVP award...
If we make the playoffs we get Nurkic back. If we have Nurkic we'll pound the hell out of the Warriors. Pound them hard enough and we could win. Beat the Warriors and the rest of the playoffs are downhill. Believe.
Every single time I find myself believing in this franchise, the damn rug gets pulled out from under us.
I will not abandon ship. I will go down with the captain or we will make it to shore, there is no other option!
