All right, who had "Syria" in the pool for "Countries Trump declares war in to try to turn around sagging polls"?

Removing Assad is the right thing to do, but you know that
    (a) Trump will manage to kill a shitload of innocent people doing it
    (b) He's only doing it because he thinks it's a way to make Obama look bad (already droned on about how Obama was weak for not backing up "red line" talk

Also: if Trump cares so much for the Syrian people, it'd be nice if he allowed a few FUCKING REFUGEES into this country, instead of trapping them in a now massively-escalating war zone.

    http://www.opb.org/news/article/us-attack-syria-missile-chemical-attack-response/

The United States fired a barrage of cruise missiles into Syria Thursday night in retaliation for this week’s gruesome chemical weapons attack against civilians, U.S. officials said. It was the first direct American assault on the Syrian government and Donald Trump’s most dramatic military order since becoming president.

The surprise strike marked a striking reversal for Trump, who warned as a candidate against the U.S. getting pulled into the Syrian civil war, now in its seventh year. But the president appeared moved by the photos of children killed in the chemical attack, calling it a “disgrace to humanity” that crossed “a lot of lines.”

About 60 U.S. Tomahawk missiles, fired from warships in the Mediterranean Sea, targeted an air base in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack that American officials believe Syrian government aircraft launched with a nerve agent, possibly sarin.

The president did not announce the attacks in advance, though he and other national security officials ratcheted up their warnings to the Syrian government throughout the day Thursday.

“I think what happened in Syria is one of the truly egregious crimes and shouldn’t have happened and it shouldn’t be allowed to happen,” Trump told reporters traveling on Air Force One to Florida, where he was holding a two-day summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The strike came as Trump was hosting Xi in meetings focused in part on another pressing U.S. security dilemma: North Korea’s nuclear program. Trump’s actions in Syria could signal to China that the new president isn’t afraid of unilateral military steps. even if key nations like China are standing in the way.

Innocent people are dying already, in case you haven't noticed. Don't use war as a further means to bash our President.

I'll say this: I trust a tomahawk cruise missile from a US warship far more than the random bombing with 1960s munitions that Russia has become so popular for, or the sarin gas attacks by a murderous dictator.

But we should know by now that war, by default, is never bloodless for innocent people. So don't use this to further bash Trump. It's not necessary. War is ugly. Deal with it.

There is no easy answer to this conflict. Do nothing, and more innocent people die. Intervene, and risk more bloodshed, destabalizing the region, and pissing off Russia.

So which do you want? If you have a better answer, I'd love to hear it. And NO, taking in millions of uneducated, dirt-poor refugees into this country with no plans for their long-term care is NOT the solution, and you know it.

But innocent people are going to die regardless if Trump acts or not, and you know that.

Apparently they told Russia before they launched the missiles (knowing that Russia would tell Assad):

What do you mean "the solution"? I do know that it's the morally right thing to do. Maybe that makes me a secret Canadian.

Sometimes, doing what's morally right is not always the logical solution.

    Just look at Iraq....

Thank you Captain Obvious. Here's a thought: maybe MANY MORE will die as a result of rash action by an inexperienced "Commander in Chief" with dubious motives, limited knowledge and an insatiable desire to "look tough".

I just want to know if there's some long-range strategic objective here. If the goal is a war with Russia, this sure seems like the first steps in that dance.

I teach logic. Logic is irrelevant here. Perhaps you mean "in the narrow self-interest of people I think are more like me than those people over there"? Even then I think you're wrong.

Damn! Those missiles hitting their targets, must have marked the end of the dinner with Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Logo.

It ought to make for interesting talks tomorrow about North Korea.

Nine-tenths of what you just said is....as always with Leftists on this forum.....nothing but assumptions and jumping to conclusions, just because you hate the guy.

He is letting his Generals plan this. Trained, knowledgeable military men of life-long knowledge and skill. With the best military in the world. If you think he's planning this all on his own, then you're a fool.

    There's nothing rash about this.

How would it be any different if this was Hillary? Oh, that's right...Hillary is a DEMOCRAT, so you wouldn't say anything.

    Snort.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. There is nothing logical about taking in millions of refugees without any plan for their long-term care, and you know it. THAT in itself is a LOGICAL answer.
