WB does go pass happy when he is nearing 10 assists, he will pass up open shots for himself or open driving lanes to try and get the assists. Sure you can say i'm wrong on that he is assist hunting and he is doing it for other reasons but you can't deny the rebounding numbers are inflated. Kanter/Adams box out to get him rebounds, not only do they box out and not attempt to get the rebound if WB is in the vicinity. WB also doesn't even contest the shots of the person he is guarding, he positions himself to immediately leave his man to get the rebound by not putting his arms up to even attempt to make the shot harder, He almost never contests a 3p shot. If the argument that WB deserves the MVP because he is averaging a TD then you can't overlook what he is doing to get his rebounds. The reason I threw Ricky Davis in their is his infamous triple double by missing a layup to get his own rebound and get his triple double.
With how close this MVP race is between 4 candidates you'v got to be nit picky and what WB is doing is not as impressive to me as Kawhi or Harden when factoring in team success as well which is important to me when looking at who will win the MVP.
As for what Bill Russell did to get the MVP that season it was 14.4p 24 rebounds and 5 assists and god knows how many blocks per game. There were 3 players that year who averaged 20 rebounds that year as well.

3 days ago I sat with 4 NBA players that said if Westbrook doesn't win it, something is wrong with the system. Said it's impossible to put up constant numbers like that in this league.....Regardless if it comes in a 2 point loss or a 15 point blowout.

I think Westbrook pads his rebounding stats but there is no denying how much of a freak he is on the court, 35 shots attempted or not. Dude is a machine. Numbers are crazy, I give him the MVP over anybody else in the league without question

Why? Larry Bird was one of the few players that I just love to watch play. The guy could flat-out cook anybody who guarded him.

Westbrook isn't the MVP of the league, he loses games for the Thunder more than he should (think against us when he shot his own team to a fat L in OKC). LeBron is the most deserving of the reward, he is having insane numbers (efficient numbers) all while being one of the NBA's top defenders, which no one ever acknowledges.

They seem to have to have left out Missed FGs/100, TOVs/100 and USG%. Russ leads in all of those categories, too.

The Spurs have the same number of All Stars as the Thunder & Rockets, just one. Despite all that resting of their well past their prime former stars, Kawhi has led them to the 2nd best record in the league compared to the 10th. Not only has he been unbelievably dominant and efficient offensively, but he's the best defensive player in the league drawing the toughest wing cover each night. Defense still matters a great deal in the outcome of games and only one of the three leading candidates really gets after it on that end of the court.

Like so many things the MVP vote is just an opinion, but I heavily favor the player who makes his team better over a hero ball stats monster.

Russ with 50/16/10 and the god damn dagger in the hearts of the nuggets on the road! Fucking warrior! Set new record for triple dubs in a season, passed Wilt on the alltime triple dub list! Your MVP right there FAMS!

Kobe should have won MVP in the 35PPG year.

Russ should be MVP no question, but there is a good chance he doesn't get it because of voting standards.

I don't think he wins it no question. Really depends how you weigh stats and what matters to the voter.

I don't see how you can vote for Russ for MVP when he doesn't even lead his team in PER. He's only got a measly 30.9 PER.Meanwhile, Josh Huestis sports a nifty PER of 56.2. Russell Westbrook, MVP? I think not.
