Joel is the bare minimum. A blue collar guy who rebounds, blocks shots, plays defense, and doesn't take shit from anyone. He's a great role player. Not a star. Maybe not even a starter for some teams, but every team would love to have a Joel Przybilla, but he had his flaws. He had no offensive game whatsoever. He had hands of solid rock that couldn't' catch a pass if his life depended on it. The reason why people bring him up is not because he's the perfect center, but because every team can use a guy like that. So if you think he's the benchmark, or the equator (if anyone above is Sabas and anyone below is trash), well..... Is that wrong? He had all of the qualities you want in a role player.

I think Roy is an interesting candidate for most "overrated:" Definitely provided an emotional lift to a very down franchise and fan-base, but in terms of actual production, and playoff success (which is where you should measure guys) he doesn't quite measure up to his perception in the minds of many fans.

I say this as someone who liked Roy a lot.

P.s. I would have said LaMarcus, but I don't think he was ever really embraced by most fans -- he was always pretty polarizing and definitely not regarded highly enough to be "overrated."

I think it's funny because people constantly talk about the "warm and fuzzies" in regards to Roy, but it sure seemed like there were reports of him being a bit of a diva in his last couple years. Meanwhile, Dame has been here for five years and from all reports, he's still the same dude that he was when he got here. Humble, great teammate, great leader..... I look at Dame and I see all of the the things that Roy was not.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Someone mentioned Travis Outlaw earlier and he's actually a pretty good candidate. He had a stretch around 2007-2008 in the second half of the season where had some big scoring games and he was suddenly being hailed as a breakout star and one of the future foundational players. Except he was never very good, even offensively. His defense was always poor and he had only one season above a 103 offensive rating.

Sergio, by a few very vocal posters. The guy was a turnover machine that couldn't make a layup or a jump shot to save his life and couldn't guard a chair. As I predicted, he was out of the league after his rookie contract. He went back to Europe for six years, supposedly improved his jump shot, came back to be a starter on one of the worst teams in the league and promptly lost his starting job to the undrafted T.J. McConnell.

Some here were predicting he'd be the next John Stockton playing for Paul Westphal in Sacramento. Right... Stockton could actually shoot and play defense.

It doesn't really count when the people who are overrating him are trolls.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who are the trolls and who are the idiots. There seems to be a very large overlap.

Walter Berry? Not sure he was overrated in the NBA though.

I forgot he played 7 games for Portland before they shipped his ass to San Antonio.

The 86 and 87 drafts were shitty. Walter Berry and Ronnie Murphy. Talk about two colossal wastes of 1st round picks.

Roy got injured in his prime, how could you call him overrated? He never really had a chance to prove himself.

No way it is Outlaw. I remember even during his good years people here hated him and wanted him gone. His decision making was always bashed and people were more than happy when he was gone. He's polarizing like Aminu but swap offense with defense.

He was my sister's fav player of all time. I thought he was good too but he was, by modern statistical measures, not very good at all.
