Zach Collins? Would love him to stay but he is gone. Will be picked somewhere between 9th and 13th imo.

Damn. I wanted him in this draft--not because I wanted the Blazers to take him, but because I wanted some other team to overrate him, draft him too high, and allow a better player to fall to us. This just makes it that much more likely that Jackson and Anunoby are gone before our first pick.

If you're talking about Collins, he's bascially a lock for the lottery.

Tyler Dorsey, however--now that's a guy who should have stayed in school for another year.

If OG and Justin Jackson are indeed gone a I'd go....

    Our Pick: Ike Anigbogou
    • Patton would be the higher upside pick, but I like Ike's D/reb potential and I think his size/strength gets him on the floor earlier.
    Mem Pick: Donovan Mitchell
    • Would give us a BOS like 3 guard trio + a skill set we don't currently have.
    Cle Pick: Jeanne/Motley/Giles
    • Boom or bust here. Motley probably the least so of the group and has a chance to play right away. Giles is probably the most likely so be a straight 5.
EDIT:I'm not even a big fan either OG or Justin Jackson, but I understand the value in drafting rotation level wings (in general, and considering our own cap sheet). Would be more comfortable taking one of them w/ the Mem Pick--with Jackson being the more likely of the two to fall imo.

I'm all aboard the Ojeleye bandwagon, but even moreso if we don't get a wing with our first pick. In fact, I'd probably hope we trade 16 for a couple later picks (Orlando's 25 & 33, perhaps, or Utah's 23/30)

Although hes projected much lower, I'd rather Sumner over Mitchell. Bigger, longer, better defender, though admittedly a far inferior shooter. Then again, I may be somewhat biased against Mitchell simply because I never understood the pub/hype Louisville got all year, so I may be projecting that onto him.

Argh--too many late-first/second round guys I like! If the above played out (OG/JJ gone so we trade down) and we end up with something like Ojeleye, Giles, Motley, and Sumner, I would probably be pretty happy with that. And then I see Swanigan, and Odebayo, and Lesort, and Jeanne, and Bryant, and I think that I'm probably going to be pretty happy with whatever Olshey decides on.

I think it's easier to list the guys I don't want down in that range. Mitchell, Lydon, Leaf, Evans, Kennard...not really interested in any of them. I'd probably be OK with most of the rest of that section. It's a nice place to be in, really. I'm already excited for next season, and this one hasn't even finished yet.

Fair argument for Sumner over Mitchell although the ACL tear kinda scares me off, especially considering how much of his potential is based on his quickness and explosion. I'd take PJ Dozier over both if he declares fwiw.

Watched Semi some about a month ago and I'm not sure he's a three. Pretty stiff/rigid/upright guarding on the perimeter. He's also not great a interior defender. I question his shooting too. He's fine when he has space but I'm not sure I'm sold on him being even an average here w/ limited shooting versatility.

My first exposure to him was that DX breakdown a while back and thought he could be a Jae Crowder type, but that idea quickly faded. I think he's clearly a 4.

I agree that he's not a good fit for us, but I actually really like Jawun Evans. He's not Chris Paul, but I think he could be a discount version and has a good chance to be a starting pg. I agree with everyone else but Mitchell--though I understand the size concerns.

I wonder what the 2 USC sophomores do. Boatright and Chimezie Metu. Hopefully they will enter and push a couple of players down to us. Boatright was injured most of this year but looked good his freshman year. And Chimezie Metu may still be a little raw but has dramtically improved. He is unbelievably athletic and someone will take a chance on him in the first round. The more the better, even if we don't like them for the Blazers.

Blazers have 13 guaranteed contacts and 3 first round picks. The two unguaranteed contracts, Ezeli and Quarterman, are sure to get the axe.

But that leaves 3 first round picks for 2 spots. So Portland is going to either have to trade one of the picks or trade a player for a pick.

New CBA is rumored to have 17 roster slots next year with two assigned to the G league.

The 2 players assigned to g-leage have different contracts.
I don't think 1st round picks are eligible (or would be willing) to be signed to those lesser contracts

There is always a chance we could grab a Euro player late in the first round and stash them overseas. I don't know who's available but that is always an option.

Rodions Kurucs is an option with the MEM or CLE pick. He isn't that intriguing.

Could keep Ferguson in Australia another year if we draft him at 15/16.

    Yay or nay:

Packaging the picks to move into the top 10 and draft Zach Collins?

The oddity enters his name. He'd be fun to have around though.

If Portland really wants Zach Collins and he falls past the top 10, I think our pick plus the CLE pick would be enough for a team like Charlotte or Detroit in a trade up scenario.

I really like Collins. Didn't know if he'd enter the draft, but his addition to the list is very intriguing.

But I'd put all three of our picks together to go after one of the SFs like Tatum or Issac.

One of Sacramento picks is good to move for. They badly need new talent and if we gave them two picks for New Orleans pick, they would probably do it. They will try to get a star with their pick and at no. 11 where New Orleans will be drafting, they could probably prefer to go no. 16 and no. 19. Will this be worth it for us though?

BTW, what positions will we have? How is tiebreaker decided? I see ours will be 15 or 16, Memphis will be 19 or 20 and Cleveland will be between 23 and 25.
