Turner, Harkless, and Vonleh. Aminu has length and size, but no brain. Give me brains any day. Turner doesn't have the size, but he'll still play better positional defense and make Durant shoot over the top. Aminu just reaches and lets Durant blow by. I'd much rather get beat by Durant shooting over the top of a defender, than blowing by for dunks or getting into the lane for short bunnies. But I'm not even concerned about Durant scoring - it's gonna happen. Aminu's "defense" isn't going to do a damn thing. Again, that's not even much of a concern - what's a concern is how inept he is at all the other facets of the game. Not only is he not stopping Durant, but he's throwing away multiple possessions each game.
I'm admittedly uninformed, but if Aminu hired a shooting coach to work with him daily and exclusively from the moment the playoffs were finished, how long would it likely take to completely break down and rebuild his jumpshot to become something functional? Would 3-4 months be enough?
Aminu can be an effective player as a defender/rebounder/energy guy. The only shots he should take are fast break dunks/layups off turnovers from great d. The idea of giving Aminu and Turner the green light every time they're open from 3 is idiotic.
Dude, this is exactly who I always think of when I try and compare Aminu to someone. Outlaw would do some amazing things, just like Aminu, but then for every one good thing he does he follows it up with 3 mind bogglingly stupid things. So frustrating.
Aminu is actually a smart defender. He rarely bites on pump fakes and he's almost always in position. He's a tire fire offensively, but don't let that cloud what he does defensively. If you can't see this, you're either biased against him, or just blind. Ps: if we're judging players on whether or not they can defend KEVIN DURANT, we can safely conclude that there are no good defenders in the league.
