It would open up the floor for us. ET and Wes swap would just be trading ball handling and passing for perimeter shooting and off ball movement. Both are good defenders, so it's a wash.

Been toying around with the idea of Joakim Noah's contract in NY. Clearly that was a decision they regret. Basketball-reference has him making $17.765M next year. Meyers is set to make $9.9M and Mo is set to make $9.6 so that gets us pretty close...

Would taking his bad contract be worth maybe swapping Memphis' pick with theirs at 7?

Hard to imagine he's so run down that he couldn't at least provide a couple decent minutes off the bench, at least at Meyers' level of productivity. 7 and 15 could potentially allow us to be bigger players in acquiring more of a star-caliber player or moving up for a guy like Josh Jackson (who feels like the ideal fit, to me).

    Just a thought...

If they do, it won't matter to me because I'll stop caring about the team and its idiotic front office.

I know that you're a massive CJ fan.... but if they dealt him for Butler or George or Porzingis you would be unhappy?

A bit yeah because the point is to get better! Only Butler out of that list excites me any.

    http://bkref.com/tiny/7Ex0a

Comparing all four players this season; CJ is right there with George and better than Porzingis right now. Butler is markedly better, but after CJ's playoff performance...? I really really don't want to trade our best player.

My reasoning has always been this:

We have an abundance of shooting guards (Crabbe, Turner, Connaughton (maybe???)

We don't have a really solid small forward or power forward. If we can cash in CJ for a star caliber player at SF or PF, we can slide one of those other schlubs into the starting lineup. So basically my opinion is:

    Dame
    Crabbe
    Butler or George
    Vonleh
    Nurk

    Is better than

    Dame
    CJ
    Harkless
    Vonleh
    Nurk

Or even more importantly, I think that Crabbe would be the more reliable option if I'm relying on one of Crabbe/Harkless/Vonleh to contribute. Long term Harkless and Vonleh might have a higher ceiling than Crabbe, but they're both still so raw. I think Crabbe could step into the starting lineup and put up 15-16 ppg no problem. His FG% and his 3pt% have improved markedly this season. If we could add a legit star player like Butler or George, to pair with Dame and Nurk, I think we're a top 3 or 4 team in the west next season.

Trade our 3 draft picks for the #4 pick.

Trade the #4 pick and CJ for the #1 pick.

Trade the #1 pick for Lebron.

    Profit.

Maybe... I just feel like Crabbe is the SG version of Steve Blake... really good at the one thing he's good at, but not super exciting to me.

He's definitely not exciting..... but neither is Danny Green. We need Crabbe to be our Danny Green. We need him to shoot threes and spread the floor. He can be our Dennis Scott.

Yeah, I bluster about losing CJ, but I can see where he might be a person that a very bold GM would trade. I'd be VERY upset though, and might have two favorite teams for a while.

The thing is, the main argument in favor of trading CJ for someone like Butler or George is that Dame and CJ's mutual defensive liabilities make them an untenable backcourt pairing for a prospective contender. However, if CJ is beginning to turn the corner defensively (as is suggested by his performance in game 1), then that argument may not hold water for long. A bold GM should consider trading a talented offensive player for a comparably talented offensive player who is also vastly superior defensively. But where CJ is concerned, that may not be the case much longer.

Long story short; I'd be upset too.

I really like CJ, and it would be tough to see him go somewhere else and thrive, which is why it would be crucial that if he is traded, it's for someone that isn't gonna LaMarcus' us. Can you imagine how bad it would be if we traded for George and he left after one year? I would actually lean towards trying to pry Porzingis away from New York because at least you'd have him for 6 years. Trade for Porzingis and then try to find a decent small forward in trade.

It would be interesting to see if Charlotte would trade Batum for Harkless/Davis/pick.

    Dame
    Crabbe
    Batum
    Porzingis
    Nurk

Who from them would help us that we can afford?

You are right. They had the 6th best record overall not in the East. My fault read that wrong from an article. Either way,m I still don't think they are a contender.

Id rather have Turner. He brings play making to the table by being able to drive inside and dish. I also think he is a better defender of larger guards and small forwards. Wes is not. Wes has body,m but not length or quickness to keep up with SF's.
That seems like a lateral move at best.

Alot of you are bringing into the mix guys on pricey salaries. How do you pay for them, how do you get them? They guys I mentioned would help our cap

I'm no longer excited about Butler. Why?

His FT Rate is a ridiculously high .540... there's no way on God's green earth that Butler will get that kind of respect as a Blazer. None. No chance. He's more dependent on FTs for his offense than DeRozan. No way in HELL am I going to trade for that guy expecting him to get to the line like he does as a Bull.

If Butler or Porzingis were available for CJ i'd do the trade in half a sec.

Expecting a player to be as good as a Blazer as he was with his former team is the curse of Blazers fans. Harvey Grant and Shareef Abdur Rahim on Lines 1 and 2.

Butler doesn't have to go to the line so many times to be a better player than CJ. He is a mich better passer and defender. I can accept a little less scoring. He ll still get 20 minimum.

We are talking about a player that is better than Lillard and of course CJ in PER, winshares, value over replacement, plusminus etc.

SAR was just a horrible fit. We tried to plug him in next to ZBO after he had been playing power forward in ATL. It was doomed from the start.
