Yeah, and they'd remember when they stepped back in the practice facility for training camp.

This is an entire thread of assumptions, but it's not entirely my assumption that tanking would alienate players and kill teem morale. C.J. himself said that tanking is management's way of letting you know they are looking to draft your replacement. Not exactly a vote of confidence in his eyes.

You have also made the assumption that the 13th pick will get us a better player than the 15th pick. The draft is an inexact science. Teams evaluate and rate players differently. Once they know where they are picking, based on watching film, combine results, workouts, interviews, etc. teams target specific players. Because the process is so inexact, it would be very rare for the teams picking 13th and 14th to target the exact same player as the team picking 15th.

Teams also look at their own needs. The two teams we would have passed to move up from 15th to 13th are DEN and MIA.

DEN will most likely look to draft a PG. It fills a need and this draft is deep in PGs. Their once PGotF, Emmanuel Mudiay lost his starting job to old, fat, slow Jameer Nelson. They need an influx of young talent at the PG spot and this draft is their chance to acquire that talent.

MIA will probably target a wing, likely a SG at 14. Dion Waiters is an unrestricted free agent who will command a much bigger contract this year then last. I doubt if Pat Riley will pay the big bucks necessary to keep him. They will also look for an upgrade of Rodney McGruder, when started when Waiters was injured.

So, assuming we will get a worse player, or even a different player, at 15 than we would have gotten at 13 is just that, an assumption. I'd be inclined to say the exact opposite, that it's very likely we will take the exact same player at 15 as we would have at 13. Again you can call that an assumption, but given that it's only to spots, and the two teams drafting immediately ahead of us have different needs and will rate players differently, I'd say it's at least as valid as the assumption we would get a worse, or even different, player at 15 than we would have gotten at 13.

Someone who can guard 3s and 4s fills a need. He is also a great weak side shot blocker. That gives us another layer of rim protection when Nurk is either on the bench, or drawn away from the basket to defend the pick and roll.

I also think Bell's lateral quickness and high motor gives him the potential to be a very good pick and roll defender, something that's very valuable in today's NBA.

At 26, I think it would be worth it, or maybe trade back to take him in the second round and acquire another asset in the process.

And when did he become the team's Dr. Phil? Does anyone really think these guys spill their guts to the guy who mows their lawn and trims their hedges?

Bell is a bit of a risk due to his size and supposed offensive limitations...but they are all risks. He's definitely worth a shot at No. 26. So no doubt are some other guys who will be left on the board at that point. I'd be happy with Bell at 26 though. He's an exciting prospect for what he does, and fills a need. If he can defend and shot block in the NBA the way he did in college, we need that off the bench, especially in the playoffs. I'd rather have Bell than Ezeli at this point. :)

If starting Meyers Leonard against the Spurs isn't tanking, I don't know what is. Not his fault they won.

To be fair, that's a cover-over of an Insane Clown Posse tattoo, so I can respect the improvement.

Its still funny to be that we have 3 first round picks and the player that is talked about the most is someone who will probably get drafted in the 2nd Round.

Draft Express did say that after his combine performance there is a good chance he could move up into the late first round.

At the very least, I acknowledged the insanity of my focus on the 2nd rounders and somewhat explained it as well.

So he's in the same boat as Jeanne, Diallo, Pasecniks, etc.

He's still been mentioned 80 times in this thread lol. I get why people like him and his defense is a positive, I just can't help but wonder how much we'd be talking about him if he wasn't an Oregon Duck. If he played for Arkansas or UCLA would he really be this talked about? I don't think it'd be close. Might as well rename this the Jordan Bell thread.

As a result of his combine performance he has moved up from 42 to 33 in the Draft Express mock draft. So, talking about him at 26 isn't that much of a reach. His stock is rising while others are falling. We aren't the only ones talking about him.

Sure there is a local connection. If nothing else, more posters here have heard of him and seen him play. So, that naturally leads to more traffic. Remember all the Draft the Stache talk back in 2006?

And I agree with you on pretty much all of it.

However, how much have we talked about Motley, Swanigan, Wilson, etc.? I can't help but feel like if Motley was a Duck and Bell was a Baylor Bear this thread would be all about Johnathan Motley. I'm focusing on 2nd rounders too, and I think there's so many solid ones that we should trade 26 down for two 2nd round picks, and see which prospects we're targeting fall to us, instead of reaching for guys at 26.

Some teams will reach, causing good players to fall. Get two 2nds and we can capitalize on some of the reaching other teams will do. Instead of picking Dozier at 26, we could trade 26 to PHI for 37 and 39. Dozier has a decent chance of falling to 37 and we get a player at 39 who'd go in the first round many other years.

I'm almost 21 so no I don't remember the Draft the Stache talk haha. I was a 10 year old who wanted Morrison or Roy just because I enjoyed watching them with my grandfather when they played college ball.

I'm a huge Zag fan, and I think Collins would be a great pick, but I'm not beating that drum non-stop lol. It isn't much of a reach but there's so many guys that could be worthy of getting picked at 26. I want us to get 2 of those guys who are worthy of 26, because some will fall because there's so many of them.
