?

What would you do?

  1. Draft at #1 (Probably Fultz or Ball)

    66.7%
  2. Trade Pick for veteran(s)

    23.1%
  3. Trade down for non-PG rookie

    10.3%

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Draft Fultz, try your best to sign Hayward in free agency and then try to deal Isaiah Thomas plus more (like Smart or Bradley) for Butler or George (assuming George was interested in staying in Boston).

Of course, if Thomas goes absolutely crazypants and leads the Celtics to an upset of the Cavaliers, maybe you reconsider.

I'd see what I could get for Isiah before the draft and if its a lot i'd deal him and draft Fultz then try and sign someone in FA. If its not that much trade the pick to chicago for Butler.

Chi. would do this bc additionally to ^, Bos. would give Chi. their #1 for a fast/good rebuild & we could give Bos. another pick (I know they've already got some BUT picks r ALWAYS assets that give u options) to additionally make the $ monies work.

Keep the Lakers from getting the best player in the draft (Fultz) and hope they don't pick the second best player (JJ).

It's tough though, both players are studs, and JJ could end up being the best player in this draft. Still I have faith that Magic is the kind of idiot to buy into the Ball hype. Either way the Celtics can't go wrong with JJ/Fultz.

I think Fultz is ready to make a big impact now, JJ might take a year or two to get a feel for the league and start turning the corner.

Draft Fultz, Sign Hayward and Griffin (trade Crowder or Bradley and others for extra cap space).

Draft Fultz, trade Isaiah Thomas to 76ers for no. 3 pick and take Jayson Tatum or Josh Jackson with that pick. Let it bake for the next 3-4 years and then reap rewards when Fultz and Jackson get to the level they can be at.

Chicago can just trade directly with Boston without receiving our garbage.

Yeah, the idea that somehow our garbage is worth including us in the deal is baffling. Effectively Chicago only do that for the first round pick, they receive nothing else that is valuable to them. But we somehow end up getting two decent players, one of them no. 3 in the previous draft, for Leonard and Connaughton. It wouldn't even work in 2k17 if you put negotiations difficulty to 0.

Who would take Thomas from them and offer significant assets back? I was saying Philadelphia earlier but not sure, their window is quite some time away and they would probably prefer to pick a young player now instead. Out of top 10, Sacramento will not go for it as it would make them look stupid. Maybe Minnesota? They lack a point guard, they could offer Boston their no. 9 pick and something more for IT.

I think Boston should trade the pick for a stud SF like Jimmy Butler or a PF.

How do they do that w/ matching salaries & not give up players that they need/like (Johnson's contract's up & Bos. has very low salaries when it comes to the guys they would actually give up)? Also, w/ Jimmy going to Bos., Jae & Brown don't get much PT so Bos. would want to get rid of those guys (ideal for them would be of course to get the most value for them though but IF we helped out w/ the $ part to help them get Jimmy... they can reward us:wink:).

They already had a chance to trade the pick for Butler, now that they have #1 they will definitely not trade it for him. Can't see them being interested in a guy (George) who loves LA.

    Why not?

I would think long and hard about trading the #1 for Jimmy Butler. They are in win now mode with Horford and Thomas is 28, in his prime.

It really would depend on if they can get Hayward in free agency for nothing.

Take Fultz, and deal him for Butler if you can't sign Hayward.

Portland got its name when Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettygrove flipped a coin in 1845. Lovejoy was from Massachusetts and he wanted to name the new settlement Boston. Pettygrove was from Maine and wanted to name the new town Portland.

To think we were a coin flip away from claiming the Celtics draft pick.

Would Portland have ever been awarded an NBA franchise if it were also named Boston? Two Bostons? Seems like it would have been a non-starter.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It probably would have been altered or changed similar to what they did with Jerusalem, Oregon. Now known as Salem.

I would erect a statue in honor of Billy King in front of the arena.

This has to be the worst trade in the history of bad trades.
