If we trade up to 10 to pick Zach Collins, sly may as well suspend me on draft night

Malik Monk will drop to 8th. Isaac won't be available.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, and do recognize the longstanding and robust trend of white american center busts, but trying to set that aside for a moment, can you recognize some of the skills and physical attributes ZCollins brings? He is one of the few I have seen who seems to play good defense, rebounds, blocks shots, has a post game, and can hit the jumper. I'm not sure there is another center in the draft that can do that this year as well. Zach has a taller standing reach than Anigbogu and Allen and appears much more skilled than either.

My biggest fear with ZCollins is that he only played limited minutes. But in those minutes he had:
    DRTG: 79.4!!!!!!!!!
    ORTG: 125.1!!!!!

Per 30 (my more realistic derivative of per 40)
    17.4 pts
    10.1 reb
    3.1 block!!!!!
    1.1 steals
4.7 fouls (maybe why he didn't see so many minutes)

Is there anything aside from the white american center thing that concerns you about him?

I'm kind of warming to an Anigbogu, Jackson, Bell draft, and think ZCollins won't be reachable for Portland. But, I could see him being an excellent backup center or starting power forward at some point.

Damn.....that is insane! Limited sample size to be sure but certainly made the most of the opportunities he had in terms of a positive effect on both ends.

But for total honesty, it is interesting to compare ZCollins to Olynyk as they seem quite similar in some ways.

My biggest fear with ZCollins is that he only played limited minutes. But in those minutes he had:
    DRTG: 79.4!!!!!!!!! (Oly 89.9)
    ORTG: 125.1!!!!! (Oly 127.1)

Per 30 (my more realistic derivative of per 40)
    17.4 pts (Oly 20.2)
    10.1 reb (Oly 8.3)
    3.1 block!!!!! (Oly 1.3)
    1.1 steals (Oly 0.7)
4.7 fouls (maybe why he didn't see so many minutes)

Standing Reach: ZC 9'3" Oly 9'0"
    Wing ZC7'1" Oly 6'10"

And the Olynyk numbers were after his Junior year (2 years older)

True, but before we get too excited look at Olynyk's numbers in the same system as a Junior.

Okay, same question to you then. Who in this draft do you see who is as good a defender, has at least a moderate post game and can has a jump shot?

I assume you agree we need help in holding or backing up the C and PF positions.

Olynyk isn't near the athlete that Collins is imo

Pasecniks as a backup C, who is likely available at 26, I think he's as good and will be as good as Zach

I didn't want to like Collins. He's got an annoying face and he's from Gonzaga. But he's legit.

I don't dislike him, but he isn't even close to the defender ZCollins is. Nor is he as good a rebounder and he is and Zach is almost two years younger.

Would you trade with the Lakers for the #2 spot?

No. It would probably take CJ plus all our picks plus a couple of future picks.

No doubt someone will suggest they could take Crabbe, Leonard, Ezeli and no. 20!

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

I think ORL takes Smith and MIN takes Markkanen.

we don't really have enough data to make that judgement with these young guys IMO, I'll stand by my position that Pasceniks will be the better player

I can't imagine how the Wolves could possibly value Markkanen over Isaac. Possible, I guess, but it would certainly shock me.

That's a surprisingly incomplete question coming from you.

Obviously it would depend on the cost.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'm not suggesting that they would or wouldn't take Markkanen over Isaac, but if they did, I imagine their reasoning would be that their biggest weakness (on offense) is spacing. Markkanen (if he pans out) solves that. You could project Isaac to be a good shooter, but he's a very inconsistent one now. Even if he pans out overall but ends up not being a good perimeter shooter, you could continue to have a team of talented but mismatched pieces.
