An investigation commissioned by former Prime Minister David Cameron into the revenue streams behind jihadist groups operating in Britain may never be published, the Home Office has admitted. The inquiry is thought to focus on British ally Saudi Arabia, which has repeatedly been highlighted by European leaders as a funding source for Islamist extremists, and may prove politically and legally sensitive, the Guardian reports. The UK has close ties with Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Theresa May visited the country earlier this year. In January 2016, a specialist Home Office unit was directed by Downing Street to investigate sources of overseas funding of extremist groups in the UK. The findings were to be shown to Cameron’s then-Home Secretary May. Eighteen months later, however, the Home Office told the Guardian the report had not been completed and would not necessarily be published, calling the contents “very sensitive.” https://www.rt.com/uk/390335-terrorist-funding-report-saudi/
“It is no secret that Saudi Arabia in particular provides funding to hundreds of mosques in the UK, espousing a very hard line Wahhabist interpretation of Islam. It is often in these institutions that British extremism takes root.” https://www.rt.com/uk/390335-terrorist-funding-report-saudi/ This also applies to the US.
We fund them. CIA knows about a lot of these terrorists before they commit the act. Example. Boston bombing http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...onths-Boston-bombing-terrorist-watchlist.html
You mean... no... it can't be... No... There are different interpretations of Islam? Wait so that means it's like Christianity?
Wow, thought it was supposed to be this tiny group of weirdos. Now it's a major middle eastern country with bazillion's of dollars in oil money pushing this all over the world. This sensitive report is laughable. It's like a cop doing a murder investigation and finding out his friend is the killer. If the cop has any integrity he'll arrest his friend. The liberal dipshit British will sweep this under the rug apparently.
Not saying this metaphor is exactly on point, but... If you provide funding for a school and 35% of the students drop out is it your fault that graduation rates are so low?
The Saudis are too valuable as a strategic country/ oil producer, major goods/purchaser of Western military arms to ever be publically tormented. The 911 attack with their timely departure to escape our inquiries is still a questionable issue.
It has been known for a long time that the Saudi family has given financial support to terrorist groups. And the Saudi leaders at the highest levels at the very least wink an approval. I do not remember the entire “theory” on why the Saudi leaders have supported terrorist. It is a very complicated problem. But my impression was it was a way for them to keep the family in power and in control of their country. They have also stopped supporting terrorist cells when the terrorists become too strong and a threat in their own country. To make it even more confusing, there are about 15,000 members in the very wealthy House of Saud. They control the countries wealth and power. Not all of them have the same agenda at the same time. We need to get out of the Middle East, and stay out. Let them fight their own tribal and religious wars. It is a no-win situation.
RT is fun to read for a different take. Not sure General Flynn needed to be crucified for working for them though. But as you all know, RT is Russian, and Russia has long been at odds with the Sunni Muslims which are lead by the Saudis. Most of the Muslims in Russia, which is somewhere between 10 and 15 percent of the population are Shia Muslims. The Shia are lead by Iran, Russia's ally in the area. Imagine that! You have no doubt heard of the troubles Russia has with Chechnya. Chechens are mostly Sunni. However, according to some people I know from the area, the conflict between Shia and Sunni is not totally religious as most of the Sunni identify as Arab, where most of the Shia identify as Persian or Caucasian. I don't know how loyal to Russia any of the Shia are and it is doubtful that any of the Sunni have any loyalty to Russian rule. There was some sort of equilibrium in effect when the US was supporting the Sunnis kicked out of control in Irag, bad mistake to begin with, but equilibrium was achieve under Bush. When Obama changed the equation, with his support for the Shia and Iran to achieve his deal with Iran, equilibrium was lost. The Saudis stepped up their support for their Sunni brothers and ISIS was born. Success lead to the visions of grandeur with dreams of the Caliphate. I doubt the house of Saud wants a Caliphate and we sure don't need one to inspire the Muslims around the world with visions of the grand dream and 72 virgins delivered by Allah.
oxymoron if I ever saw one.....May is about as hard line conservative as they get..see how many elections the Labor Party has won in England over the Tories..
Trump has done that for decades....but let's question all his detractors integrity and keep him looking squeaky clean.
