    Hello darkness, my old friend

Seems like Ainge is basically betting on his/his scouts' appraisal that Fultz isn't head-and-shoulders above the next three in the draft. If he's right, he's essentially getting a free, likely premium, pick to keep adding talent as he continues building his team into the future. Unlike the 6ers, the Kings don't look like a team on the rise (anymore than any terrible team picking high in the draft).

Does this trade make it any more likely that Philly would be looking for a shooting guard?

With the roster they have, a sharpshooter 3&D guy would be perfect. Think there's any chance we could dump Crabbe on them?

They still own #36, #39 and #46 this year with potential to draft a shooting guard like Thornwell or Hart, and are apparently pretty high on Furkan Korkmaz who will likely come to play for them next season. Now that their point guard of the future can shoot, they can also play Luwawu there.

They'd be dumb to go for Crabbe.

I like this trade for both teams though. I know Sixers are likely giving up a top 5 pick from Lakers or Kings in this scenario, but also maybe they aren't. Lakers have zero reason to tank next year so may well end up outside top 5, and Kings will acquire two top 10 talents this year so they might become half decent in 2019. You never know with those picks, today's perception of them could significantly change in a few months. Also, Philadelphia don't need that many young players, having Fultz now is better than having Jackson now and maybe Sexton or Carter in a year. It addresses their major weakness area and with a player who also addresses their main weakness.

For Celtics, if they are willing to invest money in Thomas, Fultz would not get much playing time. IMO it sends clear message that they are willing to compete sooner rather than later and I won't at all be surprised if they now try to flip #3 or future assets which they have many of for Butler or George and then lure Hayward in free agency. If that's the plan, then #3 can probably do the trade too and they get a future pick as a bonus.

BTW, Fultz & Simmons & Embiid, if they can stay injury free, will be hell of a core in a couple of years. Very exciting. And they might have nice supporting cast in Covington, Saric and Holmes etc.

Ainge is a smart cookie.....it might not look like trading #1 for #3 is a good deal but there's more to these GM relationships than that...Ainge values networking...if Philly is happy about the move....they'll be willing to help Boston out in a 3 team deal or etc......I doubt Ainge is done...he could be drafting the #3 for another team in another deal we haven't seen yet.

Ainge is notorious for being hard to deal with. He's always looking to "win" trades.

Most GMs try to make deals that benefit both sides. Olshey has mentioned his philosophy on this. If you "win" a deal, that other GM may not be so excited to pick up your call the next time.

Was lucky enough to see ES several times. I understand he was known for an occasional really bad show but every one I saw was mesmerizing. One of my coolest concert experiences was seeing him at the Fillmore. I'd left my friend to push up front for a while. A pretty girl who was standing beside me shared a knowing glance of WOW! after a series of songs completed. He then spoke to the crowd for the first time of the evening saying "thank you... any requests?" The crowd went nuts yelling out song names over each other in a loud blur. After 15 seconds of this there was a lull as if we realized how obnoxious we were being. I took advantage and rang out "Christian Brothers"! He looked over in my direction, nodded and it began.

Following the guitar intro the girl grabbed my hand as he started singing and held it for the rest of the song. Just magic... RIP Elliott, you were beautiful

I hope the tube of lube he sent with Plumlee and the 2nd rounder will help make it an okay deal for both sides

Nice call on the song request. Anything from that album would have been phenomenal to hear.

When Ainge uses the phone the rest of the league groans and grabs the wall. I really love Olshey's methods. Hw realizes that when there are only 30 other people in this club maybe it helps to look out for their interests too. Even Denver can't say we didn't give them something back in Plumlee. The "both sides walk away happy" trade works better than the "hit and run." In glad Neil sees that.
