You would what? The knicks get out of a 4 year awful contract, and get a stud C prospect to replace Noah, and two starters (for them), and 3 first round draft picks.
Not with our cap situation. Hayward to POR isn't happening in pretty much any scenario. Same with Paul/Griffin/Lowry et al.
I meant, without including Lillard, McCollum and Nurkic, because few people here want to trade them in any deal.
They talk about Porzingis and 'Melo like they are these great pieces that another team would be so close to being a contender with....yet they were garbage in NY.
This is what I'm thinking - with three players of this caliber all available, that makes it much more likely we can get involved for one of them. It clearly seems BOS is our biggest competition on the trade market, but they can probably only land one major trade (we'll see - Danny did land both KG and Allen during the same summer!), which leaves two remaining. If I'm BOS I go after KP. That leaves Butler/George on the table. Maybe CLE somehow works some magic to get Butler, but I don't see how - personally I feel MIN would be our biggest competition for Butler. With Butler going to MIN (or CLE), and KP going to BOS, that would leave only LAL as our competition for George, and they may feel inclined to wait until 2018.
Cowherd is suggesting Boston could offer #3, a 2018 #1 (Nets or Lakers), and Jaylen Brown for Porzingis. If the Knicks pull that much for KP, it'd be hard to fault them too terribly much.
I think Portland tries to get involved (been told they were already in touch with Indy) with any one of these three players but in the end, most likely as a facilitator as the big name player goes somewhere else.
Would I trade Lillard OR CJ for 3 firsts and 1 starting quality player? No. However if they skipped exit meetings, said they weren't re-signing, and said they weren't interested in staying... Yes, I would. Would you have traded Lamarcus for 3 firsts and Danny Green? Knowing what we know now, probably
That would be my guess, too. The biggest name we'd likely land is Love, and I'm not too excited about that.
Haha - I was about to blast this after reading the first sentence. And then I continued reading and was like
Here is the thing, even if Porzingis came out and literally declared on ESPN that he hates playing in New York and wants to get traded, the Knicks would still get better offers than our goody bag of picks and trash. He is still on his rookie contract and will be an RFA afterwards.
