For some reason I thought sign and trades were no longer an option. Or was it only modified?

That would be amazing if the Blazers were able to pull that off. Problem is that they'd need to be under the tax apron for a S&T deal to be legal, and at the moment they're not even close.

For those claiming that our team's luxury tax position is a non-issue until the repeater tax kicks in next year, THIS is the type of problem that that these albatross contracts create right now.

They were modified so it is no longer an advantage for the player to be able to get a bigger max by signing with his current team and then being traded.

How much are you willing to pay a 32 year old Paul Milsap? He will want more than he made last year which was over 20 million.
I don't think he is a good fit anymore, especially since Atlanta does not want a big contract back.

Yes. He can opt out or he can pass and they can trade him.

Agreed. Unless we are able to land George or Butler, I don't see any point in getting Milsap.

    Agreed.

If we did trade for PG though and shed salary to get under the tax so we could do the sign-and-trade, Millsap would be great. That would be 5 at least borderline all-star talents.

I'd rather try a sign and trade for Ibaka though.

Even with his apparent attitude issue with the Knicks, I think I'd rather try for Porzy than PG at this point. Let's con Phil into taking Crabbe/Meyers/Aminu/Picks.

I think Ibaka extends at Toronto and stays there.

Not if Kyle Lowry leaves, which he's reported to be doing.

I am assuming magic figured no one else in the top 4 would choose Ball and thereby getting the same player he would have taken at 2....... Plus netting 10. Glad Sac said no

I think Magic is going to balk on Ball....this draft is an important one for him to get right and he's under the spotlight...I think he'll draft a better player than Ball whichever pick he uses or trades for. I read the Lakers were disappointed in him and given how many players they've worked out...wouldn't be surprised to see them go another direction...the Kings would draft Ball in my view.

I could see Magic trying to get Chris Paul and Paul George to pair with Lopez
