My point was he is nothing at all like Duckworth because he isn't 7 foot tall.
He will not see the floor as a PF in the NBA because he is way too slow and cannot jump. The only thing he is suited for in the NBA is maybe small ball center. But even that is questionable if he can't show better quickness and some defensive improvement. I wonder if he will even see the floor at all.

agree on the weight and I just read earlier today he has lost additional weight since the tourney ended, I think athleticism often gets over touted and skill/effort/b ball IQ are often underrated, rebounding translated very well from college to pros and this guy can shoot, we'k see about the rest

Kevin Love seems to work and he's a lousy defender and slow afoot, but he has skills and can rebound and shoot, lets give the guy a chance before you write him off

Meyers Leonard has faster better footwork than Swanigan.

Don't get this impression at all....sorry...a guy who can shoot like him and pass like him will be able to play the 4.....I think you're exaggerating rookie defensive liabilities that all rookies come into the league with...he'll improve defensively because he's a work horse....his work ethic impresses me at least.

You could say exactly the same thing about Z-bo but he managed to have a pretty decent career. I'm not saying that this guy is going to be able to repeat what Randolph did. What I am saying is that pontificating about what he is going to do, absent watching even a single minute of him playing against NBA competition is talking out of your ass.

Sure i'll root for the guy to succeed but he simply is not even in Love's league. I also remember a huge stop last year to pretty much seal the Championship against Steph Curry in the open court. So all this "Love doesn't play defense" talk is way wrong. He plays solid defense and Love can get a quick second jump like very few that have ever played the game. Comparing Swanigan to Love is pretty much ridiculous at this point.

Oh please.... That is pretty much all there is to do two days after the Draft. Give it a rest.
But you want to compare the guy to Zbo. That like comparing this kid to Love is a complete joke.

No he doesn't. And, Meyers completely shies away from contact in the low post. Swanigan thrives on contact.

You guys simply don't read well. Yes i will be pulling for this kid. he has shown great strides and would be an awesome story if he works hard enough to actually make the team. But at this point he will have to continue to work very very hard to even see the court is all i am saying.

Comparing him to Meyers Leonard is an even bigger joke. This kid improved EVERY aspect of his game from his freshman to sophomore years. Meyers Leonard has regressed in every aspect of his game for three straight years. Two players could not have less in common, yet you made that comparison.

Swanigan's BB IQ is much much higher than Leonard's.

We will see i guess. From what i am seeing on every video and report is that this kid is very slow afoot and does not move well with or without the ball. He is very two dimensional.

This is so wrong. Swanigan never stops moving, and he is almost always in the best position, especially for rebounds.

From what i see Swanigan will not get a second contract. Leonard will have a longer and better career. But that is to be seen now isn't it. Not saying Leonard is doing anything to help himself.

My reading is fine. Condescend much? You are NOT a fan of his game.

He will see the court. Guys that play their asses off (literally) always do. Maybe not as a starter, but his physical limitations will be much less of a problem against other second stringers when his strength, length, skill set and most of all his motor will give him advantages over other back ups.

The comparison to Duckworth is also a lazy one. Duck constantly gained weight over the course of his entire life. This kid has lost 114 pounds since 8th grade (and supposedly has lost even more since the draft combine). When you're homeless, proper nutrition and a gym membership just aren't in the cards. Once he got into a stable home environment, started eating right and working out, the pounds flew off. The guy does 2 hours of cardio every day. I'm not worried about him ballooning up like Duck did.

They said the same exact thing about Cliff Alexander. That would be who i would compare this guy to.

Again you didn't read that right. There was absolutely no comparison to DUCKWORTH. Duck was a 7 footer. But he prevailed against weight issues.
