Would Danny Ainge be happy with fleecing only one team?

    No, he would not.

Who has Ainge fleeced since the Nets were still in New Jersey? That was 4 years ago. Even the great Danny Ainge doesn't get in on the winning side of every bad trade that goes down. He had the assets to EASILY better the NOP offer for Cousins and the MIN offer for Butler, but he landed neither. We weren't the only ones who "didn't have the balls to land Jimmy Butler".

That kind of proves my point, not even the best GMs hit a home tun every time.

Olshey hit a home run with the Nurk trade. He just traded up to get the 10th pick in a very deep draft. Only time will tell if that trade was a home run, a ground rule double, a bloop single, or a strike out looking.

Who has Danny Ainge fleeced in the 4 months since we fleeced the Nuggets?

Ainge just traded the first pick in the draft, and the right to draft Markelle Fultz to move back two spots in the draft. Did he fleece PHI, or did they fleece him, or maybe neither. Only time will tell.

The free agent period hasn't even started and already people are getting all antsy that Neil hasn't done anything yet.

Ainge did offer Miami SIX first-rounders for Winslow a year ago.

    Just an FYI.

I was half kidding. I agree with saying "you can't get all of them", I just think that it's important for a GM to try, even if a move seems unrealistic.

As for the Celtics trivia? Trading Rondo for Crowder and a first rounder was pretty sweet. I think he also got a first rounder for Jeff Green.

I bet the nets still want crabbe. They have cap space but no legit FA is going to sign there. How about Crabbe for Trevor Booker and a pick. We'd have to find a shooter elsewhere but we save about 9m and get an upgrade at PF. Booker is also under contract for only two more seasons, so if he doesn't work out we can use his expiring contract in a trade next offseason.

Edit: booker has one year left on his deal. Even better. So we could ask the nets for RHJ.

So who could realistically use a starting shooting guard?

    Brooklyn
    Cleveland
Miami? (if they don't re-sign Waiters)
    New York
    Philly
    Lakers?
    Memphis
    New Orleans

There's actually quite a few teams without a good starting shooting guard.

I wonder how badly Cleveland really wants to get rid of Kevin Love.

Whatever chips we have Neil really should make a play for Crowder.

Brooklyn: Crabbe for Booker and RHJ

    Cleveland: no match

    Miami: no match

Knicks: Crabbe for Courtney Lee/KOQ and a pick

76ers: if they strike out on Redick they have a couple stashes I'd be interested in (pasecniks, lessort, bolden). Actually if I'm philly I'd rather go after crabbe than 33 year old Redick.

    Lakers: Crabbe for Clarkson

    Memphis: no match

    Pelicans: no match

I wonder if this would be possible:
Say BOS trades Crowder, Smart, and future picks to IND for George

I wonder if we could offer Crabbe, Leonard, and lottery protected 2018 and 2020 1sts to INDIANA for Crowder. (Basically, in a 3-Team Deal)

I would certainly do that. Crowder replaces Crabbe, we save $22M, and it would almost put us in position to sign MLE FAs up to $8Mper

Sign and trades would be more possible as we would still have Harkless, Davis, Aminu, and Vonleh to trade out. We could go after almost any free agent we wanted, as that's a good package for a team to receive in a sign-and-trade. Those four could net us $31M in return.

I'd go after max or near max forwards like Blake Griffin, Gordon Hayward, Serge Ibaka
If we couldn't sign-and-trade for one of those, I'd go after near max 6th Man guards such as Jrue Holiday and George Hill
If we couldn't sign-and-trade for one of those, I'd go after role players such as James Johnson, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, Amir Johnson, Patrick Patterson.

Serge Ibaka would be perfect work this team. I wish we had cap space.

He was a guy that was on my radar all the way back starting last November when it was obvious he was a poor fit in ORL. He would have been a good fit next to Plums and and even better fit next to Nurk. After we landed Nurk, I was hoping we could work out some kind of Crabbe for Ibaka deal. It would have made sense, at the time, for both teams. Crabbe could have started at SG, which would have allowed Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon to go back to playing their natural positions.

They were going to lose Ibaka to free agency anyway which is why they traded him to TOR for Terence Ross. Evidently, they preferred the older Ross and his dunking over Crabbe's 3-point shooting. Or, maybe we didn't even try to offer them Crabbe. I'd be disappointed if we didn't.

Do you guys really think Crowder is attainable?
It's reported Indiana wanted Crowder in any PG13 trade with the Celtics.
Celtics rejected that idea soon as Crowder was put in. They were more willing to offer the #1 pick in 2017 draft before they offered Crowder.
    Not so sure he's attainable.

Boston is not more willing to offer a #1 pick than Crowder.

They're going after two SFs in Hayward and George. One would slide over to SG, but they have two more young SFs in Tatum and Brown. Crowder would be unhappy playing minimal minutes off the bench. Boston would trade him for George.

Indiana would likely part with Crowder for Harkless and a 1st in my opinion. Harkless is slightly worse, but he's younger and fits the career arc of Myles Turner. Harkless is also under team-control for longer that Crowder. The 2018 1st would be a difference maker, that would get Indiana to part with Crowder, IMO.

Do you have a reliable source for these reports?

It doesn't seem to make any logical sense. Paul George is a billionaire's version of Jae Crowder. Are they so afraid George will leave them and go to their suck ass, former rival that they want to keep Crowder around as insurance in case George leaves after 1 season?

In any scenario, they likely keep Bradley even if they sign Hayward and trade for PG. Bradley would play 30 minutes off the bench. Trading Crowder would clear cap space to sign Hayward.

Crowder also doesn't make sense as PG insurance, because they'll likely sign Hayward who would slide over to SF and then resign Bradley who would regain his SG role. If they didn't sign Hayward, they would likely roll with a young SF core of Tatum and Brown.

Keeping Crowder doesn't make sense for Boston in any scenario.
