Two good matchups coming up in ORL. Knicks vs Mavs, battle of the pgs. Followed by OKC vs DET, can't wait to watch my boy 2K get his first NBA action.

Lowkey 2k may be a valuable 6th man in OKC

Has Monroe opted into the final year (player option) of his contract for 2017-18? MIL can't trade him if he hasn't, unless they are looking to do some kind of sign (extension) and trade. That, I would not be interested in.

In the past Monroe wanted to be "The Man" get his touches and not play defense, which earned him a deserved reputation as a selfish player. However, last year he accepted the 6th man role and played surprising well on both sides of the ball. He's always been able to score, but last year his advanced metrics on defense were excellent. In spite of his bad reputation, he came in 6th in Sixth Man of the Year voting - and deserved it.

We just stocked our cupboard with young bigs, so we don't really have a spot for Monroe. Still, unless we can get something better for them, I'd consider a consolidation trade of Meyers + Ed Davis for Greg Monroe. Monroe is clearly better than either player and it gets us out of Meyers contract. This assumes Monroe opts in to the final year of his contract - in which case he'd be a one year rental. Given all the young bigs we have (Nurk, Collins, Vonleh, Swanigan), I'd be perfectly fine with letting Monroe walk after one season if it lets us unload Meyers and his contract.

I would do Davis/Meyers for Monroe in a heartbeat.

Looks like the Blazers arent going to make any more moves until the deadline. Im actually ok with that. On one hand it sucks watching other teams collect players, see trades go down, hear stuff about every other team, and not hear anything about the Blazers, but on the other hand it might be a good thing to see what our guys have got. With a healthy Nurkic and Davis, with a year behind Turner, maybe Crabbe will finally have his best year, who the hell knows. Its exciting.

I would too, but only if Monroe opts into the final year ($17.9 million) of his current contract, not if this is some sort of sign and trade that involves a bloated 4-year extension for Monroe.

BTW, I was surprised to see that Monroe is the same age as Dame. Seems like that dude has been around forever.

Supposedly pick(s) and a player. No mention of which picks or which player.

I'm guessing Crabbe and maybe the 15th and 20th?

I think we should petition the league to re-align the conferences and put us in the East. We can just pretend we are from Portland, Maine - a common mistake, and hope no one notices. We already travel far more than any other team in the league and with the Great Western Talent Migration, we'd easily be a top 4 tea, in the East.

A year from now, when LeBron heads to the Lakers, if our young guys improve, we could challenge for the top spot in the East for the next several years. We could have a nice run of 5 or 6 finals appearances in a row. Let all the good teams fight it out in the West and hope you catch an injury break or two in the finals the way CLE did last year.

Coo, then I'd definitely be down with Meyers + Ed for Monroe.

Would MIL do it? They seem to want to move Monroe, but do they think a change of scenery is enough to make Meyers useful. Spencer Hawes just opted in to the final year of his contract. How many slow footed, perimeter playing 7' white guys do they need?

I'd definitely take Monroe as a rental to move some contracts and hold down the 4 spot for the season in hopes that Collins/Swanigan is really to start the next season.

my guess is Milwaukee is looking for the same thing we are looking for with Crabbe......meaning no contracts back. Or at least reducing their salary enough to get under the cap. But yeah I would take that deal too.

Also a Monroe for Crabbe swap would not be horrible from a luxury tax standpoint next July

The Bucks are currently over the cap but under the tax threshold. However, they only have 13 players under contract. So, they may want to dump some salary to add a couple players while still staying under the tax threshold.

That seems to be their motivation in moving Monroe and, if that's the case, they probably won't want to take back Crabbe and his contract in return, especially since they just re-signed Tony Snell and have Brogdon and Middleton. All three of those guys shot > .400 from 3FG and actually play some defense. I can't imagine why they would want Crabbe.
